As an innovation and technology transfer centre, specialised in logistics, CIRCOE is involved in the MAGPIE Horizon 2020 project, mainly in the "Digital Tools" Work Package 4. The project has the ambitious goal to find solutions to green European ports thanks to technological and digital tools. In order to participate to that evolution and to align with the European Commission's targets, CIRCOE has developed two innovative tools which are replicable: -     A carbon calculator originally developed on Microsoft Power BI for HAROPA PORT, which has been extended, for now, to DeltaPort GmbH & Co. KG and soon to the Port of Rotterdam and Admnistração do Porto de Sines . It analyzes the energy consumption per container, calculates the CO2 emissions and the energy needs. We have added the possibility to compare the emissions for the same movements with greener energies (electricity and at a later stage H2). This tool will feed the Green Energy Matching tool developed by IFP Energies nouvelles in the WP4, -     A Multimodal route planner, as a decision support tool allowing freight forwarders to decide on the best possible route between road, rail, inland waterways, based on cost, CO2 emissions and time. This tool will be further developed with alternative energies and empty returns, at the container level. It will be used by Erasmus University Rotterdam to develop their Port Logistics tool for the port of Rotterdam. All these findings have led us to develop another tool for French companies called IROKO which calculates the CO2 emissions depending on the multimodal route. As from 2025, SMES with above 250 employees will have to display their CO2 emissions, therefore this tool could become yet another innovative ally to a carbon free transport ecosystem. #magpie #H2020 #horizonH2020 #innovation #digitaltools

Understanding PDO and PGI on Protecting Greek Local Products 🧀🍇 PDO (ΠΟΠ) : Protected Designation of Origin and PGI (ΠΓΕ): Protected Geographical Indication, are important indicators when it comes to product origin protection.  ✅ eAmbrosia is the official register of protected names for agricultural products, wines, and spirit drinks across the EU. Did you know that Greece boasts an impressive 281 registrations? Gaïago's vision extends far beyond borders, as they aim to expand this project across more regions in the coming years. 🌱 With Seqana by their side as their trusted partner in stratification and sampling design, the future looks more regenerative than ever! 🌿 Gaïago is leading the way by following Gold Standard’s Soil Organic Carbon Framework Methodology, enabling regenerative farmers to not only nurture their land but also soon reap the rewards through carbon credit revenue. 💰💡 This project is proof of the power of collaboration and dedication. ⭐Would you like to know about the first phase of the EUnetHorse project?    In this initial stage, we focused on identifying the needs of equine farmers to enhance the resilience of their farms 👨🌾🌾. More than 40 interviews were carried out in each country 📋, as well as a National Workshop 👥, to  help identify and prioritize these needs.
