On April 17th, the Savings Achieved Via Efficiency (SAVE) Act officially became law. It will broaden and deepen the energy-saving programs that Dominion Energy and Appalachian Power Company offer their customers. Many thanks to UK Adjudicators and Sean Gibbs for putting on an excellent conference on Wednesday in which various panels explored the use of alternative dispute resolution in different sectors. Our panel had an engaging discussion about the challenges facing solar and wind projects in particular and how parties can use ADR to look to overcome disputes arising from those challenges and achieve successful project delivery. More can be done to benefit from ADR in these industries and it is hoped that the use of ADR (for example, through Dispute Adjudication Boards) will become more standard as the industries continue to grow and the market matures.

Curious about what the North Sea is doing to become more sustainable?🟢🤔 This article explains the need and impact of Carbon capture, Usage and Storage (CCUS). CCUS aim is to decarbonise the air by using systems that can capture this gas and inject it back into the reservoirs creared by oil extraction in the North Sea. I never knew much about this until I gave the article a read💡 – definitely worth a read if this is of interest. This is not my area of expertise (although always nosey enough to learn about it!). Many of us in the Regen camp have been closely engaged with the development of the premise and process of Regional Energy Strategic Plans (and the regional bodies that will be set up to produce them). We have submitted not one, but two responses to Ofgem's consultation around the policy framework for RESPs - we think its that important! Within this are a number of specific recommendations we think are vital to getting the aims, methods and coordination of RESPs right, but we also recognise much of the detailed design is still to come... Three key takeaways from our responses are: 🔎 RESPs should prioritise bottom-up evidence over top-down disaggregation of national pathways. 🔎 NESO should build on and add value to, rather than duplicate, existing engagement and network forecasting processes that have been extensively developed. 🔎 A key function of RESPs should be to ensure that the energy system is net zero-ready.
