We are still navigating the aftermath of Paris 2024 and we already have news for the next Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028: BREAKING, a debutant in Paris but which failed to stay in the Olympics, comes out, and SQUASH and FLAG FOOTBALL enter, a sport with many similarities with American Football in a more accessible version with less physical contact. Three more sports will be back: BASEBALL which was in Barcelona in 1992, SOFTBALL, a variant of Baseball played in a much smaller area and, finally, CRICKET which was only present in Paris 1900! The news continues, World Athletics and the LA28 Olympic & Paralympic Games have made a striking change to the first week's schedule, placing athletics at the forefront of the upcoming Olympic Games. This change is expected to further captivate the public and highlight the commitment to innovation in athletics. Now that we know all this and it won't be until 2028 that we have FUTSAL, considered the fourth most practiced sport in the world, and ROLLER HOCKEY, a sport much appreciated in Latin countries, only invited as an exhibition sport in Barcelona 1992, will Brisbane 2032 invite and establish these modalities in the Olympics? #Olympics #LA28 #Brisbane2032 #PROPLAYER #Sports

Discover 5 Insights on Why Men’s #Olympic #Soccer Is an Under-23 Tournament Men’s Olympic Soccer: As athletes finish up their plans for Paris, the 2024 Olympic Games are coming up quickly. As athletes finish up their plans for Paris, the 2024 Olympic Games are coming up quickly. Men’s football, which has been one of the most interesting sports at this year’s event, is likely to have a new champion after Brazil, which has won gold at the last two Olympics, failed to qualify. In contrast to the women’s #football #tournament, the men’s tournament will be made up of #U23 teams from each #country. That means that many of the biggest stars in the world won’t be playing. However, there will be three spots open for players over the age of 23… What is the reason for the U-23 tournament in Men’s Olympic Soccer? The main reason why men’s Olympic #football is a U-23 event is to make the #FIFA #WorldCup less competitive. Since its beginning, the World Cup has been the most important men’s #international football tournament, and FIFA wants to make sure it stays at the top. Also, clubs usually don’t let their players play in both the Olympics and the Euros or Copa America. This is why there aren’t many international stars taking the three spots on each roster for players 23 and older. Click here for more info... https://lnkd.in/gCDrnBev

Host Nation Performance at the Summer Games #Paris2024 is officially underway! The soccer and rugby tournaments start today, and the International Olympic Committee – IOC will take center stage for the next few weeks. It is often reported that host nations perform better at the Games. This has been the case in recent years: when comparing host nations to their performance at the previous Games, hosts get more medals: #London2012 - 51 UK medals in 2008, 65 UK medals in 2012 #Rio2016 - 17 Brazil medals in 2012, 19 Brazil medals in 2016 #Tokyo2020 - 41 Japan medals in 2016, 58 Japan medals in 2021 However, one metric is often overlooked: these host nations send more athletes. In fact, due to a rise in athlete counts, all three previous hosts saw their medal per athlete drop during their host year: #London2012 - 0.16 medals/Olympian in 2008, 0.12 medals/Olympian in 2012 #Rio2016 - 0.07 medals/Olympian in 2012, 0.04 medals/Olympian in 2016 #Tokyo2020 - 0.12 medals/Olympian in 2016, 0.10 medals/Olympian in 2021 After earning 33 medals in 2021, France will need 50 from their 573 current Olympians to outperform their Tokyo medal/athlete rate. Can they be the first hosts to outperform their pre-hosting medal rate in a generation?

🏀 The Olympic Basketball Showdown: Can These 3 Teams Challenge Team USA for Gold? 🏆 As we approach the 2024 Paris Olympics, the excitement around men’s basketball is palpable. Team USA, boasting a roster of elite NBA talent, is the heavy favorite to secure gold. However, the landscape of international basketball is evolving, and three teams are emerging as serious contenders to challenge the American dominance. 1. Canada: 🇨🇦 Canada has shown impressive form with a perfect 3-0 record so far, defeating Greece, Australia, and Spain. Led by RJ Barrett, Dillon Brooks, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Jamal Murray, this Canadian squad combines young talent with seasoned experience, posing a significant threat to Team USA. 2. Germany: 🇩🇪 Germany, also undefeated with a 3-0 record, has impressed with victories over Japan, Brazil, and France. Dennis Schröder, Franz Wagner, and Daniel Theis are key players contributing to their success. Germany’s tactical approach and strong defense could make them a formidable opponent. 3. Serbia: 🇷🇸 Despite a narrow loss to Team USA, Serbia remains a powerful contender with a 2-1 record. Led by Nikola Jokić, Serbia’s resilience and strategic play could turn the tide in their favor. Jokić’s exceptional performance and leadership are crucial to their success. Why It Matters: With these teams showing strong performances and potential, the path to gold for Team USA is far from guaranteed. The international basketball landscape is increasingly competitive, and these teams are equipped to challenge the American supremacy. One of the most exciting aspects of the Olympics is discovering sports we've never, or rarely, watched before. Every few years, we're introduced to events that captivate our attention and spark new interests. But why do these sports only seem to surface during the Olympic Games? Is it the rarity of these events that draws us in? Or is it the prestige and grandeur of the Olympics itself that makes them so intriguing? Imagine if these team handball, canoe slalom, table tennis, and countless others were available more often – would we still be as enthralled? The Olympics provide a unique platform that elevates lesser-known sports to global recognition. It's a testament to the power of the Games to bring diverse athletic pursuits into the spotlight, if only temporarily. What do you think? Would regular exposure to these sports sustain your interest, or does the Olympic context add that extra layer of allure? #Olympics #SportsDiscovery #SportsMarketing #SportsMedia

As the Olympic Games are being held this year in Paris, I thought it would be interesting to explore how the Olympians earn their chance at gold, silver, or bronze. It turns out that, just like in the world of finance, the path to the Olympics is paved with strategic planning, diligent effort, and a fair bit of competitive spirit. Paris 2024 Olympic Games Paris 2024 will be held from 26 July to 11 August of this year and will include Aquatics, Athletics, and Boxing. New categories like breaking (as in break-dancing, I kid you not) will grace the games, as over 10,000 athletes from over 200 countries compete in 306 medal events. The Right Stuff? When it comes to qualifying, each sport has a different metric by which they judge. Some are based on individual performances, others on the collective strength of national teams. Sports like shooting and taekwondo offer quotas for places earned by individual athletes, which helps prevent a small number of countries from dominating any event. However, even then, the final say on who fills those quota places lies with the athlete's respective National Olympic Committees (NOCs). Dream Teams In team sports, nations secure their spots through performances in World Championships, continental competitions, or global qualifiers. This rigorous selection process ensures only the highest-performing athletes represent their countries on the international stage, making each event a (hopefully) thrilling spectacle of skill and sportsmanship. Talk about inspiring! The dedication, coordination, and grit needed to arrive at this global stage is just "awesome" in every sense. Olympics.com, 2024

I just stumbled upon this article by Sports Illustrated in which they've given their podium predictions across all 329 events at Paris 2024: they expect India to win just 6 medals in all (1S & 5B) - do you agree? Their prediction list includes the following contenders from India: 1) Neeraj Chopra (Silver - Javelin Throw) 2) Antim Panghal (Bronze - Wrestling) 3) Nikhat Zareen (Bronze - Boxing) 4) Aishwary Tomar (Bronze - Shooting) 5) Sandeep Singh and Elavenil Valarivan (Bronze - Shooting) 6) Sarabjot Singh and Manu Bhaker (Bronze - Shooting) In my opinion, the following prospects simply cannot be ignored: 1) Badminton: Men's Doubles & Women's Singles 2) Archery: Mixed Team Event 3) Shooting: 1-2 more individual events 4) Hockey: Men's Team 5) Wrestling: Women's 50kg My prediction (slightly optimistic) for India at Paris 2024 is of 11 overall Medals (2G, 3S, 6B) - what's yours? https://lnkd.in/dtQZYXPN
