Equality at the Olympics 🥇 As this year’s Olympics come to a close, we’re celebrating more than just the incredible performances of the athletes. This year marked a historic milestone for gender equality, with women making up 50% of the participants for the first time. It’s a powerful symbol of progress and inclusion. Equally inspiring is the introduction of a nursery for the first time for parents, breaking down barriers for those balancing elite sports with family life. Team GB’s remarkable performances have made us proud, but the true victory extends beyond the medals. This progress in the sports world reflects a broader societal shift towards equality, demonstrating that when opportunities are equally accessible, everyone benefits. This isn't just about sports. Empowerment takes many forms.

🏃♀️ 🏊♀️ We did some numbers crunching for the #internationalwomensday2024 and had a look at different aspects of women in sports. 🔍 The forthcoming Paris Summer Games will feature as many women as men competing – a first in Olympic history! 🔍 Despite progress, only 23.9% of executives at the 65 largest sporting goods companies are women. 🔍 While women's sports leagues are gaining traction, there's still a long way to go – gender equality in sports remains a distant goal. Local Impact Alliance wishes the most dynamic group of Ladies an amazing year and look forward to create a world where every woman has the opportunity to thrive. March is Women History Month. We need women, in all their diversity, involved at all levels – negotiations at grass root to boardrooms. Women are more committed to supporting gender equality causes, and supporting women and girls. From ‘aid to investment’ and ‘writing a check’ to ‘being a voice,’ women search for deeper solutions to development problems — and at the center of most is gender equality.

Celebrating International Women's Day 2024 brings with it a call for action toward gender equality and justice. On our grantee visit to Global Village Project I was inspired by the work of women empowering refugee girls through education. GVP’s More Than A School: Wraparound Support for Refugee Girls Program supports the holistic wellbeing of its students, including transportation, supplemental nutrition, home visits and family conferences, experiential field trips, and more! The Atlanta Women's Foundation’s funding supports this nonprofit, and others llike it, that take action toward #genderequality and #justice. Imagine a gender equal world. A world free from discrimination, bias, and sexism. A world that’s diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where differences are valued and respected. Together we can forge women’s equality. Collectively we can all #inspireinclusion.

“Gender equality remains the greatest human rights challenge. Investing in women is a human rights imperative and cornerstone for building inclusive societies. Progress for women benefits us all” (UNWomen.org) At AG Comms we prioritise Gender Equality by supporting women and girls within our business, across our supply chain, with our customers and through the non-profit purpose partnerships we have. Since we started tracking our impact, we have directly supported 283 women and girls. Here's the breakdown: 2022 = 129 2023 = 154 ⬆19% 2024 our target is 169 ⬆ 10% We will do this through donating 1% profit to social and environmental causes, continuing with our community support, increasing stakeholder education and awareness and offering more voluntary and pro-bono opportunities.
