Older article but an important one. As we have seen in recent history; mandated GIS deliverables for PHMSA regulated pipelines and PHSMA federal grants flowing to pipeline companies that leverage GIS to manage their assets-we will see the same growth in asset tracking and compliance in emerging energy spaces, municipal water, and other subsurface utilities. Just like the midstream space's evolution into using GIS as the official system of record for their pipeline assets, utilities onboarding GIS for the same reasons will need to "bridge the gap" between asset management systems with traditional tabular reporting and the growing need for visualization of spatial data for streamlined operational decision making, modeling and future compliance needs. #GIS #Compliance #TVC #PHSMA #utilities Inside infrastructure: GIS offers best way to improve underground facility maps | Underground Construction (https://lnkd.in/gw2X8QAG)

Another amazing work done by our GPR team! Utilities are the lifeline of any modern city and any utility damages could cause much unwanted inconvenience to the residents and companies. HSC adeptly handles the risks associated with unidentified ground conditions and utility alignments, facilitating smarter construction methodologies and minimising utility strikes. #digitalunderground #utilitymapping #utilityengineering #utility #engineering #singapore #pipeline #construction #SUM #SUE #gpr
Starting a construction project without a GPR survey is like driving blindfolded - risky and unpredictable💥. At HSC Pipeline Engineering Pte Ltd, we recognise the importance of thorough groundwork, especially when it comes to what lies beneath our feet.🌏 🌱 During our recent GPR scan for a regulator installation, we stumbled upon unexpected tree roots, reminding us of the hidden complexities underground. 🌳 With our forecasting expertise and years of experience in GPR scanning, we strive to navigate these challenges with humility and precision.🧑🏼🚒 HSC Pipeline Engineering Pte Ltd Shane Shi Shawn Seah Foo Zhi Rui Ko Lat TAY ZAR WIN Raymond, Ong Chun Yong Kathleen Sit Jack Chau Jacky WAN Ka Ho ZIn Ko Aung Lim Say Jing GPR-Slice Screening Eagle Technologies Proceq NDT #SeeingTheUnseen #SG #SafetyFirst #SingaporeSafety #GPRTechnology #pipeline #engineering #research #gpr #subsurfaceutilitymapping #groundpenetratingradar #radar #utilities #utilitylocating #utilitymapping #utility #utilityindustry #utilityconstruction #rebar #UrbanDevelopment #MCGPR #InfrastructureInnovation #rebar #RevolutionizingUtilities #HDD #Cables #GPRSLICE

Subsurface utility engineering (SUE) has come a long way since it was first introduced in the early 2000s. The adoption of this practice has set a high. but attainable. bar for the collection and depiction of existing utilities. https://lnkd.in/eUaRDCvJ

Back in 2014, Stuart Wales (then Head of Marine and Structural Engineering, now AMOG's CTO) headed up a complex project that involved the simulation of a heavy lift involving a 500te gas compression module and an offshore platform in the unforgiving Bass Strait. The modelling and analysis set out to answer the following questions: ⛑ Could the heavy lift be conducted safely? ⚓ Was the selected vessel suitable for the conditions infield? ⏳ How long would the charter last? 💲 Was this the most cost-effective solution? ✅ How could this all be verified? Click below ⬇ to learn more about this project, and to find out whether it was successful. #offshoreengineering #offshore #marineengineering #bassstrait #beyondtheboomtip Thanks also to fellow contributors to this #flashback project and work, including Glenn Swaik, Yik Ting Kee, Kanishka J., Jon Gumley, and Christopher Carra.

Have you ever faced difficulties with spatial variability of soil/rock properties while determining the bore path of your trenchless crossing? How did you handle the spatial variability while determining the safety factor from the annular pressure analysis of your HDD bore path? At the upcoming #Pipelines2024 Conference, Dr. Alireza Bayat and I will deliver a technical presentation, "Introduction of the Concept of Probabilistic Risk Assessment for Evaluating the Borehole Stability in Horizontal Directional Drilling" to discuss this topic. Details about the presentation are as follows: Annular pressure analysis that determines the likelihood of hydraulic fracture occurrence is critically important for evaluating the feasibility of horizontal directional drilling (HDD). The traditional method of annular pressure analysis in HDD makes insightful comparisons between minimum required annular pressure, Pmin, and maximum allowable annular pressure, Pmax, along the bore path. However, such a method seems deterministic rather than considering the potential variability in estimates of annular pressure (both Pmin and Pmax) due to the uncertainties within the parameters and models used. This paper proposes a concept of probabilistic risk assessment that allows incorporating such uncertainties in the annular pressure analysis in HDD. For a better understanding, the newly proposed concept of probabilistic annular pressure analysis in HDD is discussed in relation to the probabilistic method used in other geotechnical engineering applications. Lastly, information required for developing risk criteria for evaluating the risk of hydraulic fracture in HDD is presented. #trenchlesstechnology #horizontaldirectionaldrilling #hdd #drillingfluid #hydraulicfracture #fracout #spatialvariability #heterogeneity #probabilistic #riskassessment #geotechnicalengineering
