They had the Honor of being 1 of the 15 Bands participating in it. Typically Summer Band Camp doesn't start till first part of June, so these were some extra early sessions plus the graduating Seniors stayed for the event also. It was a whirlwind of activity leading up to this past Saturday. Plus there has been threats of bad weather during the Parade, we kept our fingers crossed. For those of you never participating in a large- scale Parade, there is a lot of hurry up and waiting involved. We had to be there in full uniform 2 hours before to get in the proper place then we waited. As we marched towards the start other participants would "blend" in behind and in front of us. Seen a couple of the Drivers in their escorts trucks, the Indy 500 Queen in her car and several Parade units. Our kids did amazing, I got to walk with them the entire route with our First Aid kit, just in case.... They all hang in there like the troupers that are and proudly represented our School and City. Good read from the Guardian. In a scene that struggles for recognition and funding, the new found fame from Raygun’s performance may not be the fame they want. Imagine trying to present yourself as a credible candidate for sponsorship and the only thing the person you are talking to has seen is Raygun doing the sprinkler. If I was advising a client on this, I would be looking for ways to reverse this. Don’t go for the cheap shot and get Raygun to do the kangaroo in your ad. Yes, it can be fun, and yes, you can wrap it up in some power-of-the-individual-critics-be-damned jargon, but you are still doing it at the expense of the wider break community. Instead how do you showcase and hero the wonder of breaking? How do you go deeper on the subject? How do you use Raygun and her moment in the limelight to lift up the whole scene? There is an opportunity here, don’t fluff it.

I PLEDGE my HEAD to clearer thinking, my HEART to greater loyalty, my HANDS to larger service, and my HEALTH to better living, for my family, my club, my community, my country and my world. This is the 4-H Pledge that youth and adults recite at the opening of each meeting. In the spirit of that pledge to clearer thinking, we ask “is there a future for 4-H in Sherburne County?” Last summer, the 4-H horse project funded and painted the barns to freshen them up for fair. Imagine the disappointment as everything the kids worked to prepare for was deluged with rain through the failing roofs on the horse barns as several waves of extreme weather occurred during fair week. The normal flurry of excitement was replaced with an all-out scramble to shift horses to higher ground and wait out the storm while also scrambling to save thousands of dollars’ worth of hay, feed, show clothes, tack and equipment. This is one of many issues that need to be addressed to deal with aging infrastructure and the future of the county fairgrounds. The county has indicated at various times the desire to sell and redevelop the property the fairground occupies. That constant fear of being evicted from the fairgrounds has not served the best interests of the youth or the community at large. Sherburne County businesses and residents are overwhelmingly supportive of 4-H programming when made aware of needs and how they can help. But who will invest in updating and improving the aging infrastructure of a fairgrounds under constant threat of eviction and redevelopment of the property? If the long-range plan is to relocate the fairgrounds, then please, let us begin the dialogue to plan out a timeline and details for beginning that endeavor. We need to at least work together to solve the immediate issues to serve our youth of today as well as plan for the future of our youth. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Please, let us not fail our youth any longer. ~ Families of Sherburne County 4-H Note: this letter was sent to all Sherburne County commissioners. The purpose of this post is to raise awareness of safety issues at the Sherburne County fairgrounds. The video captures the July 22, 2023 storm at the county fair and a failing roof leaking into one of the tack/hay stalls. #safety #4H #fair #itsforthekids #horses Please contact your Sherburne County representative and let them know action is needed https://lnkd.in/gcwtPM3J

Sunday was St Patrick’s day. A global day of celebration of Irish culture which feels like it’s getting bigger each and every year in its scale. So what better day to jump in, join the fun and see if you can get people to reappraise what they drink … and whether there might be more than Guinness to enjoy. That’s what Kahlua did. And people loved it. 🎉 The atmosphere/ambience, infectious enthusiasm, jolly 🎻 The music (contributing to the above) 🤣 Funny - the story, the facial expressions, the Tucan, the twist 😯 Surprise/curve ball - the moment of him turning round with a cocktail, the play on Guinness 🍸 The twist on tradition and acceptance - celebrating non conformity, affectionate It also gives them a powerful positive association or space to be part of the big event. Being a part of St Patrick’s day. This all meant that the ad was seen as incredibly well loved, resonant, highly distinctive and really did make people who wouldn’t have considered Kahlua pre seeing the ad actually want to try it. Only 3% considered the brand before being exposed to the ad in the middle of programming surrounded by other ads …. And after, 22% would consider it. Now to the elephant in the room. Not everyone realised or remembered it was a Kahlua ad. We show the ad as part of an ‘ad break’ with other ads in the middle of programming then ask what brands people remember being advertised. The number mentioning Kahlua is less than we’d often see. BUT - there is an additional 10% who talked about espresso martini (which benefits Kahlua). Inevitably …. There are also 7% who remember Guinness. Now we could see that as a really bad thing … or we could weigh up a few things: - It’s a smaller brand. They have a lot to gain by being part of St Patrick’s day, being another drink to consider, being humorous, being an accepted drink. - The way it positions Kahlua cleverly as an alternative. An attractive one. A fun one. An accepted one is very clever. - Is Guinness really a competitor? Or given the number who do get the brand, is attaching the love so many feel for Guinness powerful? - Could Kahlua habit stack on Guinness as James Clear would say? When you’ve had enough Guinness you move seamlessly to Kahlua or an espresso martini I say well done to Kahlua, Pernod Ricard and Wieden + Kennedy Sign up to the newsletter for insights into an interesting ad each week. https://lnkd.in/e-VVDCSC https://lnkd.in/ema3AbMW #consumerinsights #kahlua #advertising #marketing #effectiveadvertising #stpatricksday

5 Fun Facts About St. Patrick’s Day 1. He was British! Prepare yourself for a surprising twist about St. Patrick’s Day. The beloved champion of Ireland, was - actually born in Britain! Indeed, it's believed he hailed from the southern regions of Wales. Snatched at the tender age of 16 by Irish pirates, St. Patrick - a dreamer at heart, he visualised his liberating escape from Ireland's shores - and against all odds, he achieved just that. I guess it’s fair to say that St. Patrick was quite the master of manifestation, Engage in the comments if you've ever FELT THE POWER OF MANIFESTATION…. KEEP IT CLEAN THOUGH YEH! 😊 2. He actually wore blue. Another surprising fact about St. Patrick’s? He actually wore blue, not green. It’s in all of his portraits too. In fact, when George III created the Order of St Patrick, its official colour was a deep sky blue, which was called “St. Patrick’s Blue”. So, what triggered THE green obsession? In the 18th and 19th centuries, when the Irish were forging an identity distinct from the British crown. The colour green, the three-leaf clover, and St. Patrick himself were woven into a vibrant tapestry of Irish independence. 3. It used to be a dry holiday. Be honest, what comes to mind when you think of St. Paddy’s Day? Green, leprechauns and alcohol. That’s why this one holds the title for the top mind-boggling fact about St. Patrick’s Day. It’s true, this national holiday in Ireland was initially a dry day (alcohol free). From 1903 to 1970, it was ILLEGAL for pubs in Ireland to be open on March 17, because of the religious connotations of the holiday. So, what changed? Well, the government realised how much money they could make by keeping the pubs open. And of course….. the rest is history. 🍺 On average, about 13 million pints of Guinness are served every year on this day. That’s nearly two and a half Olympic-sized swimming pools. Safe to say you would definatley have the hiccpups after that!!! 4. And, Leprechauns. The red-haired, green-clothed Leprechaun is commonly associated with St. Patrick’s Day. But they're not just St. Patrick's Day mascots,. In Irish tales, they were full-on shoe makers for fairies! Ain't that a kick? Leprechauns: the unsung heroes of the fairy world. Give them a little bit more love this St. Patrick's Day, and remember the history behind the fun. 5. Shamrocks 🍀—a three-leafed clover long associated with Ireland—are indelibly associated with St. Paddy’s day. The ‘shamrock’ is a mythical plant, a symbol, something that exists as an idea, shape and colour rather than a scientific species,” Smithsonian’s Bess Lovejoy explains. Modern legend has it that St. Patrick used the three-leafed plant to explain the Holy Trinity while preaching, but despite attempts to link the real-life figure to the practice, historians agree it’s a fable. Whatever or wherever you choose to celebrate St. Patrick's day this year, be sure to have a fun and festive time from all the team KODOBI Ltd 😂

🌟Tiger Woods: And the Need to Address Ableism in Sports🌟 Tiger Woods is and always will be an amazing golfer whose career is marked by numerous triumphs and major challenges. Listening to the SkySports commentators of the Open at Troon today, they focus and comment continually on whether he is limping or grimacing, often lamenting what they perceive as the downfall of a hero, and they don’t want to watch it. But what they are really doing is missing the point. From significant back surgeries to the devastating car accident in 2021, which would have ended most people’s careers, Tiger Woods could have given up, but he didn’t. He returned to the golf course and inspired us all over again. Yet, his journey also highlights some critical issues: 🏌♂️ Society and media often measure Woods against his peak performance, overlooking the profound impact of his injuries. This reflects a broader ableist attitude that values athletes' past capabilities over their current realities. We should celebrate what athletes can achieve at any stage, respecting their physical limitations without undue pressure. 🏌♂️ While Woods' story is inspirational, framing his comebacks as merely "overcoming" injuries perpetuates ableism. If we balance celebrating achievements with acknowledging physical realities, we promote acceptance and adaptation. Woods' experiences shed light on the need for greater accessibility in golf and sports in general. While there are adaptive golf programmes, systemic cultural changes are needed to make the sport more inclusive for people with disabilities. 🏌️♂️ The portrayal of Woods' injuries and comebacks can challenge or reinforce ableist attitudes. By focusing on his resilience and respecting his limitations, the media can help shift public perception towards a more inclusive mindsets, therefore the golf commentators should be mindful of their lamentations. Tiger Woods' story is not just one of personal resilience but a call to action for all of us to address ableism in sports and beyond. Let's celebrate all athletes for their achievements and support a culture that values inclusivity and respect. https://lnkd.in/e6meq7WT #TigerWoods #Ableism #Golf #Inclusion #Resilience #AdaptiveSports #DisabilityAwareness #SportsInclusion #Golf4All
