𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 & 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗗𝗮𝘆 Yesterday marked 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙 𝙇𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝘿𝙖𝙮 2024, a day to honor the silent but pivotal engines of innovation – our labs. We looked back at the role laboratories played during the COVID-19 pandemic, where a global symphony of research facilities banded together to pave the way for the end of the crisis. Now, as we step into "𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙁𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙇𝙖𝙗," it's a pivotal moment for private equity to propel the engines of discovery – our laboratories, CROs, and CRAMS. Their work forms the bulwark against disease, their discoveries fuel our futures. Reflecting on this, we underscore the backbone of future-ready labs: 📈 𝘽𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙚𝙨: Pioneering labs are supported by agile strategies that respond to evolving healthcare landscapes. 🛡️ 𝙊𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙍𝙞𝙨𝙠 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩: The foresight in mitigating risks ensures that our research isn't just groundbreaking but also dependable. 🌱 𝙀𝙎𝙂 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙨: Beyond discovery, our labs are a testament to sustainable, ethical, and socially responsible science. As we fortify the infrastructure of our laboratories with these principles, we not only foster scientific breakthroughs but also cultivate a ground for responsible investment. This World Laboratory Day, let us pledge to nourish a scientific ecosystem that's robust, innovative, and ethically grounded. Here’s to the bright future of healthcare, illuminated by laboratories that marry scientific prowess with strategic, operational, and ethical clarity. #WorldLaboratoryDay #InvestInScience #FutureLab #InnovationInHealth #StrategicScience #OperationalExcellence #EthicalResearch #SustainableLabs #GlobalHealth #ResilientResearch

I am thrilled to share that I will be part of the leadership team for Emerging Femtech starting this March🥰 It’s an exciting time to be part of Femtech/ women’s health! Here’s why👇 Following the White House Initiative on Women's Health Research signed by the U.S. President and First Lady on November 13, 2023, which allocates $100 million to sponsor women's health research and startups without private support, there's a significant focus on closing the women's health gap [1]. A report by McKinsey Health Institute suggests that addressing this gap could enhance the lives of millions of women and, by 2040, potentially boost the global economy by at least $1 trillion annually [2]. This year, the MIT Grand Hack spotlighted Women’s Health, highlighting the urgency in this field[3]. Notably, a breakthrough in Endometriosis treatment is on the horizon, leading to the potential treatment with dichloroacetate (DCA) has shown promise in reducing pain and improving quality of life in early trials. If approved, DCA could become the first “non-surgical, non-hormonal”new treatment for Endometriosis in forty years., marking a pivotal moment in femtech[4]. 💃"Emerging Femtech," an initiative by the Harvard Business Club, is at the forefront of these exciting times in femtech, organizing events for women founders, entrepreneurs, investors, and researchers focused on femtech and women's health. 🤜Follow our new LinkedIn page for the latest updates and opportunities to engage with a community passionate about femtech, women's health, and empowering female entrepreneurship. ❤️Our first in-person event will be held jointly with Health Care Club at Harvard Business School on 3/21! Now that we've landed safely on UK soil, I wanted to reflect on my time spent last week in San Diego at the Lab Facilities Summit West. It's not often that I get to head on-site and meet with speakers, sponsors, and attendees and see the result of all our preparation, so when I do, I never take it for granted. I really enjoyed meeting with #LabOperations experts, both at the lab tour and at the summit. It was a pleasure to hear our attendees' passion, enthusiasm, and genuine excitement when debating and discussing how to advance their #labfacilities strategies. However, it wasn't all work and no play! I've put together the following video as a peek into what Emily Donohoe, Simon C Gibbs, and I got up to in our time in SoCal. Of course, my highlight was seeing the pandas at San Diego Zoo... I wanted to give a special mention to our expert speakers who not only presented and facilitated discussions onsite but played a huge part in shaping the agenda and contributing to pre-event and onsite content: Partha Krishnan Ariana Palencia (Greene) Marilyn Sanchez Pruthvi Shah Jeyakavitha Arulprakasam Jayson Bernstein Nick Armstrong Christine Gapuz Michael Cross Melissa Gutierrez, CFM Greg Lundell Tamanna Talukder, MS, MA, MB (ASCP)CM, CGMBS Mark John Brassard Florian Ammann-Teuscher Rami Doueiri Steven Heffner Jennifer Watts Carl Patterson, MS, SSGB, SSBB Stephanie DeLuca, AIA LEED AP Nicole Rose Anthony N. Stephanie Perry Also, thank you to our innovative sponsors: Agilent Technologies ALT | American Laboratory Trading CAI Genesis AEC Mercury NEXA | EAM LarianTech Service Insight PHCbi Global XiltriX North America Scipods Want a glimpse into the summit? I learned so much from everyone on the Talent Development panel hosted by SPRIND - Bundesagentur für Sprunginnovationen - @falling-walls.com In Sweden, "Professors priveledge" is a legal requirement for Prof.s and PhDs to own their own IP. Rather than trying capture value from early-stage ideas, this helps universities like KTH Royal Institute of Technology focus on growing comapanies, investing in and strengthening the ecosystem. Prof.s priveledge also normalises spinout labs where one Prof. can support invention for multiple spinout companies over her career. Lisa Ericsson thank you for lessons from "The Land of the Unicorns"! In Singapore, organisations like SGInnovate grew Singapore's innovation ecosystem from the gound up. They understand how to anticipate skills gaps and create workforce policy proposals based on the holes popping up in startup teams. Juliana Lim, your anecdotes were delightful! At Reyedar, diagnoses visual and neurodegeneration problems early and safely. They've never struggled with recruitment because they put 1 line at the start of every job description: "If you want to change the world work here." Then they're inundated with high-quality applications. Thanks for sharing Alessandro Grillini! Maybe this is to be expected when Benoit Schillings, one of the most calmly audacious people I've ever met, kicks off your panel with the principles of X, the moonshot factory. Serious Kudos to Nicolas Rode and Barbara Diehl - the puppet masters - who seemlessly brought such a diverse panel together !! Missed it?! What comes to your mind when you hear the name ODIN? If it’s an old guy with birds on his shoulders, here’s a new one for you: ODIN is The Open Discovery Innovation Network. A patent-free drug discovery and diagnostics platform funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation. The scientific scope of the programme is cardiovascular diseases, cardiometabolic diseases and infectious diseases. ODIN bridges the gap between academia and industry, facilitating open, precompetitive research collaborations. The initiative is rooted at Aarhus University, but five Danish universities are partners, and the collaboration opportunities extend to international participants, creating a global network of innovation 🌍 💡 One unique aspect of ODIN is that all funded projects share their knowledge with the public, allowing for free commercial use. This open approach eliminates the need for IP negotiations, making it easier and faster to initiate projects. 🤝 As a company, you can join ODIN at no cost and are not required to make cash contributions. While active participation is encouraged, there are no fixed levels of contributions or time registration required. This flexible model is designed to foster collaboration without barriers. Do it for the easy of collaboration, scouting of new technology and talent, access to new resources and to de-risk wild ideas. 🎉 ODIN also offers a series of matchmaking and ideation events. These events provide a platform to showcase research needs and project ideas, find partners, and receive valuable input from the ODIN community. Their digital matchmaking platform is open, making it easy to connect and collaborate. And you can pitch either an idea, method or product. Read all about it right here: https://lnkd.in/dYzSzz4H
