Public Service Pride Network (PSPN) / Réseau de la Fierté à la fonction publique (RFFP)’s Post

The GCWCC CCMTGC is important to the Public Service Pride Network (PSPN) / Réseau de la Fierté à la fonction publique (RFFP) because the funds raised though this national campaign have an impact on the lives of local #2SLGBTQIA+ communities across the country.     In order for 2SLGBTQIA+ communities to thrive, they need support. Through the GCWCC, public servants can choose to allocate their donations to the charity of their choice, and there are many well deserving queer and trans focused charities that do the work on the ground to help our communities thrive.     Equally, the GCWCC is important to the members of the PSPN because they have said, loud and clear, that it is important to them to highlight and support charities that help our communities. We saw this last month during #PSPW2024, with event focused on the intersections of our communities, such as 2SLGBTQIA+ seniors and newcomers.     It’s important to remember, that public servants and their families access the services provided by 2SLGBTQIA+ focused charitable organizations.   The Youth Project in Nova Scotia, which the PSPN has partnered with previously, serves as an excellent resource for public servants in Nova Scotia who may have children identifying with the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and seek support for them.   The Youth Project is just one of the many queer focused charities that public servants may choose to support though the GCWCC, but there are many others. For example:  o   The LGBT+ Family Coalition in Quebec  o   The Capital Rainbow Refuge and The End of the Rainbow Foundation, supporting LGBTQ refugees in Ottawa and Alberta respectively. o   2-Spiritied People of the 1st Nations, in Toronto  o   And “Q-munity”, supporting queer, trans, and Two-Spirit people in BC    Equally many public servants that identify as allies of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities want to support queer focused charities.
