Ever notice the increasing number of early-career OT clinicians going into private practice on their own and wonder why? Its because employers need to step up and support them better. So many young clinicians get used to working on their own and never really expirience the power of good mentoring and supervision. If you dont expirience it, how can you value it? Here is an article I recently wrote about what early career clinicians actually need. https://lnkd.in/ef3RNp3k

I train PTA's to level up their career and provide them a successful route to be their own B.O.S.S without a P.T.
Building relationships is one of the fun parts about being a Stretch Mobility Coach and not always something you can do in a traditional PTA setting. In fact.. you can't really build deep relationships at all when you see multiple patients per hour and you're under the supervision of a PT. If connecting with your patients is important to you, did you know that you can work as a solo practitioner as a PTA when you become a Stretch Mobility Coach? Not only is this great for job satisfaction but it also leads to better patient outcomes and BOTH of those things are important to us at SMC. Changing Lives & Challenging the Status Quo. My mission is to disrupt the physical therapy industry and save more rescue dogs. I am the CEO of Apex and the mom of 3 legged rescue, PT the Dog.
The cost 💲 of getting trained is out of proportion to the pay 💰. (Fortune Well) I believe that if Private Practice PT is going to survive, the market must be disrupted. That is our plan for 2024. Happy OT Month! If you haven't heard it yet, let me be the first to say I value and appreciate the work you do as a school-based OT practitioner. My fingers are crossed your school teams do as well, but if they need a little hint, feel free to share this new blog with them. How are you celebrating OT month? I would love to hear about it and see pictures! https://lnkd.in/gUnfd3eh

I train PTA's to level up their career and provide them a successful route to be their own B.O.S.S without a P.T.
There are 3 things every PTA is going to need if they want to go solo! If that’s you.. here they are: 1️⃣ Elevate Your Skills: Your expertise needs to be top-notch and align with your PTA license. Make sure it’s evidence-based and something you can confidently back up. It should not only enhance your practice but also stay within the boundaries of your state license. 2️⃣ Create a Proven Service Offering: Your service must be effective and unique. It should stand apart from traditional physical therapy services and deliver results that make you the go-to professional in your field. 3️⃣ Choose Your Title Wisely: Many state practice acts have specific rules around using your PTA title outside of PT services. Check your state regulations to ensure you’re on the right track when offering wellness services. 🔑 These three elements are your keys to thriving as a solo practitioner! #solobusinessowner #pta #physicaltherapistassistant #ptacareers #stretchmobilitycoach

As an occupational therapist, understanding when sensory integration and processing differences are impacting your client’s praxis and responses to sensory input is like a light bulb going on. This newfound clarity is what our latest free downloadable guide, “Unlocking Potential: Sensory Integration Training for Occupational Therapists,” is all about. Why Sensory Integration Matters Sensory integration is an essential component of effective occupational therapy because it addresses how individuals process and respond to sensory information from their environment and within their own bodies. This can significantly impact participation in daily activities. Many clients, especially those with conditions such as autism, ADHD and learning difficulties, struggle to integrate sensory inputs, which can impact their daily functioning, behaviour and overall well-being. Transform Your Practice Being able to assess and provide sensory integration interventions according to best practice standards is transformative to your practice and client outcomes: you will wonder how you managed without these skills and knowledge. By understanding and applying sensory integration and processing principles, occupational therapists can develop targeted interventions to help clients regulate their sensory responses, improve motor coordination, and participate in daily activities. Therapists who have completed our postgraduate qualifications tell us that sensory integration has been ‘the missing piece’ in their toolkit. One therapist said, “Once you’ve seen SI in practice you can’t believe you were trying to help people without this missing piece. In some ways I’ve become very frustrated about all the work I did before I had this SI lens.” Grow Your Career With the growing awareness and demand for sensory integration expertise, occupational therapists with these skills are in high demand. This specialisation allows you to work in a variety of settings, from schools and clinics to private practice and research, or take up teaching or leadership roles. Develop Your Clinical Skills and Decision-Making Sensory integration training develops your clinical skills and decision-making. Understanding the complexities of sensory processing allows you to make more informed assessments and develop more effective intervention plans. Download Now “Unlocking Potential: Sensory Integration Training for Occupational Therapists” is a comprehensive guide to how sensory integration education and training can transform your career and practice. This is more than a resource; it’s a roadmap to elevating your practice and enhancing the lives of your clients. Don’t wait—download your free guide now and start your journey. https://loom.ly/wFvTrUY #SensoryIntegrationTraining #OccupationalTherapist

3 things that annoyed me in my first job as a PT (and how to avoid them) 1- getting bumped to a "whichever clinic they need me at position" as opposed to having a regular caseload at my primary clinic *Disclaimer that this was after covid and things had changed, but the position I came back to once the clinic was running again was not the one I signed on for. I didn't stay for long after that. How to avoid this one? Make sure it's in writing with your offer letter that you'll stick to your primary clinic vs bopping around as needed. 2- Getting a 0.25 cent raise at my annual review. Not much to say here. Upon hire, ask about raise potential. If you're not happy with the increase, have a direct conversation. IF their hands are "tied" - it's time to start looking somewhere else. Another option is to change jobs every 2-3 years, starting each job at a higher salary. 3- Dumping all my patients to another (already fully booked) PT when an eval came in. This is a clinic system thing. Do your research, observe and shadow before accepting a job. If that's the clinic operating process, it won't change once you're there. Ultimately, I left my clinic- and traditional PT for that matter - and started my own thing. You do what's best for you. And send me a message if you have questions! #physicaltherapy #newgradtips #ptdpt #spt #studentphysicaltherapist #doctorsofphysicaltherapy #physicaltherapistsoftiktok

Occupational therapist | Owner/Founder OT Potential | Podcast Host | Continuing Education Nerd | Occupational Therapy Advocate
I am embarking on a journey, where I dig even deeper into #occupationaltherapy continuing education requirements in each state, and document what I find. I’m starting with my home state of Nebraska, because our license renewal is coming up on August 1, 2024. I have so many questions so far, like: 🤔 Does supervising a capstone student count? (Only FW is specifically mentioned.) But what I really want to know from you is: What kind of information would you like to see on a page like this for your state? https://lnkd.in/exd64c7N

This is probably the page on our website that I visit the most. (Which makes me feel old and nerdy! 🤓) Our OTD capstone student, Alana, just added to the great content originally penned by Bryden Giving! Pay special attention to the new guidance on qualitative evidence, which Alana added to help lay the groundwork for some soon-to-be-released evidence-based practice tools! #occupationaltherapy #evidencebasedpractice https://lnkd.in/e6BftSA
