It's unacceptable that Standards committees continue to operate without detailed and active industry consultation, scrutiny and accountability. This is another example of something being fixed that wasn't broken and leading to wide spread industry cost and confusion. What was the problem? Why is the recommended fix better? What is the cost to the community? Does it have industry wide support? What are the long term ramifications? Who or what organisation was the proponent? What evidence is relied upon to establish the need for change? There needs to be urgent reform in the Standards development space with the Australian Building Codes Board ensuring the Impact assessments are diligently prepared and made publicly available for technical debate and scrutiny, as would be appropriate for any other regulatory proposal for change. #timeforchange #abcb #ahsca #secretcommiteebusiness #governance National Fire Industry Association of Australia
