Golf and Formula One. The two sports aren't often mentioned in the same breath, but there is a new exciting collaboration just announced between #taylormade and #redbullracing What are the links between golf and Formula One that make this collaboration have the potential to exist? You only have to look at the special edition Red Bull liveried Stealth 2 driver from TaylorMade to start to see the link. The Stealth 2 is designed through a process of computer-aided design and extensive wind tunnel testing. The Stealth 2's time in the wind tunnel helps engineers shape the head to be as aero-efficient as possible to help increase club head speed for the golfer. The Stealth 2 also features extensive use of carbon composite to reduce weight and increase performance. These three areas are all key to designing a Formula 1 car, which helps people understand the collaboration. We've already seen partnerships between golf and car manufacturers, but the link between Red Bull and TaylorMade is the first between Formula One and golf. Formula 1 and Golf. Not two sports you would normally consider in the same breathe. Anybody with a passing interest in Formula 1 will appreciate the design and complexity that goes into building an F1 car. But could you say the same about golf clubs, after all, it's just a stick isn't it? What you might not be aware of is that golf manufacturers spend a large portion of their time in development and engineering processes before they launch new clubs, which would not look out of place in an F1 team. "Milton Keynes roundabouts helped me with Formula 1... The hairpin in Monaco is tighter than most roundabouts in Milton Keynes." These words by Liam Lawson really struck me. It's frightening to hear that the design of some UK roads can make drivers see the tarmac as a literal racetrack to speed on, and not as an integral part of the public realm. This really proves that the width, radii, surface material, and speed of roads can have a massive impact upon their use. If Milton Keynes' roundabouts have a larger radius than Monaco's, then we clearly have a real problem on our hands. Roads should not equal racing. Convenience should not equal car-crashes or catastrophe. Now imagine that due to the sporting regulations, you will never know the club that the player is using, and you will not know the distance to the hole. And, during the television broadcast, they do not even show you the player’s golf swing. In all successful pro sports, nearly every aspect that makes a player successful is open and transparent to the audience. A 3-point shot, a 87 MPH curve ball, a one-handed interception and a 94 MPH slap shot in hockey can all be slowed down, dissected and the skills and ability communicated in a relevant, understandable way. Nearly everything that makes Pecco Bagnaia faster than Jorge Martin (or vice versa) on a given lap or over a race distance is hidden. MotoVitesse plans to rip up the current, archaic motorcycle road racing sporting and technical regulations with a clean-sheet re-write to capitalize on new and emerging technologies. The result will be a deeper understanding of the cause and effect of the rider’s actions. Racing and Sports is excited to announce it has signed a three-year deal with Racing and Wagering Western Australia. Highlights: -Three-year deal signed with Racing and Wagering Western Australia for RAS to supply market-leading racing content for TABtouch's international racing offering. The deal also includes two additional one-year options. - RAS is contracted to receive $1.16 million plus indexation over the initial three-year term, with an additional $772k plus indexation to be received upon the exercise of the optional two one-year options (potential total contract value in excess of $1.93 million). - RAS will provide TABtouch with its market-leading analytics, predictive models, race overviews and other premium content for all Tier 1 international racing jurisdictions, replacing an incumbent supplier. - The deal represents an important extension of the existing relationship – which until now has included digital advertising and support with integrity monitoring technology and paves the way for further commercial partnerships to be explored. - The new agreement is in the Enhanced Information Services business segment, which given RAS’s extensive capability and scale is the highest margin of the Company’s offering. - The Company's pipeline remains robust as it continues to experience strong demand for market-leading content and data solutions from operators, in the backdrop of globalisation within the industry. It looks like Formula 1 is making an investment in Chicago. Last year's race here was an abysmal failure by anyone's standards, as over the 4th of July weekend we received record setting torrential rain which affected the first of its kind Formula 1 race through the city of Chicago city streets. The race didn't draw as much tourism as expected or revenue. But a couple of weeks ago, the licensing arm of Formula 1 filed four new trademarks at the USPTO for GRAND PRIX OF CHICAGO (and similar marks) in 11 classes. The applications are all based on an issued Benelux registration, so no use in the U.S. is required to be demonstrated before the U.S. registration issues. Formula 1 has been expanding its footprint in the U.S. Last November, it held a similar concept (street race ) right off the Las Vegas strip (the licensing body already owns a U.S. registration for LAS VEGAS STRIP CIRCUIT) and in Miami (they own U.S. registration for GRAND PRIX OF MIAMI).
