Happy #FactCheckFridays everyone! Today, we're diving into a prevalent misconception about cannabis - the belief that all cannabis is psychoactive and will produce a "high". In reality, cannabis is a complex plant that houses numerous compounds. The two standout characters are CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). THC is indeed psychoactive which means it can affect your perception and consciousness. However, CBD, which often pairs up with THC, is not psychoactive. Interestingly enough, CBD can even counteract some of THC's psychoactive effects! Many medical cannabis products are engineered to have high CBD levels and low THC content. The intention here is to maximise therapeutic benefits and minimise cognitive impact.
