Why Food Compliances Fail to Address Long-Term Public Health. Navigating the complex landscape of public health compliance has been a challenging yet enlightening journey as we prepare to launch PurePep. Unlike the relatively straightforward process of building a software business, establishing a food venture requires rigorous adherence to numerous regulations and certifications. The extensive and time-consuming process of meeting food safety codes and regulations has provided us with a wealth of knowledge about the food industry. It has also highlighted significant gaps in addressing public health concerns. Despite strict compliance measures in the United States, we are still facing a health crisis, with obesity rates soaring at 42%. This raises the question: Are we overly reliant on paperwork and so-called due diligence in the food industry? While food industry regulations are effective in addressing immediate health issues and preventing foodborne disease outbreaks, they fall short in considering the long-term health impacts of the food we consume. Current norms focus on TCS (Time/Temperature Control for Safety) food handling, cooking temperatures, and serving times to prevent outbreaks. However, there are no regulations to assess the nutritional content of ingredients and their long-term effects on public health. This regulatory framework has inadvertently fueled innovation in the fast-food industry, prioritizing shelf life and cost reduction over health considerations. Ingredients are often chosen for their ability to extend shelf life, with little regard for their impact on long-term health. At PurePep, we are committed to promoting healthy eating that offers long-term health benefits. We believe that nutritious food should not be a luxury reserved for a select few but should be accessible and affordable for everyone. Although the development of our fast food products is taking time, we are excited to announce the upcoming launch of our healthy and energy-boosting food products in New Jersey. Stay tuned for more updates. #PublicHealth #HealthyEating #PurePep #FoodSafetyCompliance #Nutrition #FoodInnovation
