Why Food Compliances Fail to Address Long-Term Public Health. Navigating the complex landscape of public health compliance has been a challenging yet enlightening journey as we prepare to launch PurePep. Unlike the relatively straightforward process of building a software business, establishing a food venture requires rigorous adherence to numerous regulations and certifications. The extensive and time-consuming process of meeting food safety codes and regulations has provided us with a wealth of knowledge about the food industry. It has also highlighted significant gaps in addressing public health concerns. Despite strict compliance measures in the United States, we are still facing a health crisis, with obesity rates soaring at 42%. This raises the question: Are we overly reliant on paperwork and so-called due diligence in the food industry? While food industry regulations are effective in addressing immediate health issues and preventing foodborne disease outbreaks, they fall short in considering the long-term health impacts of the food we consume. Current norms focus on TCS (Time/Temperature Control for Safety) food handling, cooking temperatures, and serving times to prevent outbreaks. However, there are no regulations to assess the nutritional content of ingredients and their long-term effects on public health. This regulatory framework has inadvertently fueled innovation in the fast-food industry, prioritizing shelf life and cost reduction over health considerations. Ingredients are often chosen for their ability to extend shelf life, with little regard for their impact on long-term health. At PurePep, we are committed to promoting healthy eating that offers long-term health benefits. We believe that nutritious food should not be a luxury reserved for a select few but should be accessible and affordable for everyone. Although the development of our fast food products is taking time, we are excited to announce the upcoming launch of our healthy and energy-boosting food products in New Jersey. Stay tuned for more updates. #PublicHealth #HealthyEating #PurePep #FoodSafetyCompliance #Nutrition #FoodInnovation

FSANZ has released the results of its Consumer Insights Tracker (CIT) survey. Over 2,000 Australian and New Zealand consumers were questioned, to understand their trust in, and understanding of, the shared food regulation system covering both countries. Findings show consumers rate nutrition above other food values such as naturalness, convenience and country of origin - with almost three-quarters of Australian and New Zealand consumers putting effort into maintaining a healthy diet. Key data findings included: 🟢 72% of people have confidence in the safety of the food supply 🟢 Farmers and Food Producers are the most trusted sector in the food system (83% trust) 🟢 73% of consumers reported putting effort into maintaining a healthy diet, with people looking for food labels that can help identify nutritious food 🟢 70% of people trust mandatory back-of-pack food labelling like the NIP and ingredients list, but 🟢 have less trust in voluntary front-of-pack labelling such as claims about health benefits (40% trust) 🟢 59% of consumers nominated foodborne illness as their key food safety concern The reports are available via the link:

Empowering Consumers with Informed Food Choices: Proposed Amendment to FSSAI Act Body: In the era of digital transformation, it is imperative to leverage technology to enhance consumer awareness and empower them with informed food choices. To this end, I propose an amendment to the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 (FSSAI Act) that mandates food businesses to disclose key nutritional information on LinkedIn. Rationale: * LinkedIn is a professional networking platform with a vast reach among food industry professionals, consumers, and stakeholders. * By requiring food businesses to share nutritional information on LinkedIn, we can: * Increase transparency and accountability in the food industry. * Provide consumers with easy access to reliable and up-to-date information about the food they consume. * Empower consumers to make healthier and more informed food choices. * Promote healthy eating habits and reduce the incidence of diet-related diseases. Proposed Amendment: Section 29 of the FSSAI Act shall be amended to include the following provision: "(4) Every food business shall disclose the following nutritional information on its LinkedIn page: (a) Energy value (b) Total fat (c) Saturated fat (d) Trans fat (e) Carbohydrates (f) Sugar (g) Protein (h) Sodium (i) Any other nutritional information as may be prescribed by the Food Authority." Implementation: The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) shall develop guidelines for the implementation of this amendment, including: · The format and frequency of nutritional information disclosure. · Mechanisms for verifying the accuracy of the information provided. · Enforcement measures for non-compliance. Conclusion: By providing transparent and accessible nutritional information, we can promote healthier eating habits, reduce diet-related diseases, and foster a more informed and engaged food system. Consumers have become more health-conscious than ever. Some food manufacturers use misleading tactics to convince people to buy highly processed and unhealthy food products. As science and food knowledge evolves, so too do governmental laws and regulations that protect the health of consumers. Food labelling regulations are complex, making it harder for consumers to understand them. What was considered healthy one day might be deemed questionable the next. Compliance standards and regulations are a roadmap for consumer safety and satisfaction. It's crucial to be mindful of what we're eating. The food we consume plays a significant role in our overall health and well-being, making it essential to make informed choices. For consumers, the best way to learn about food safety is by properly reading the label. The information that is provided on the label lists all important information related to nutritional values, ingredients, origin, and manufacturer. When you are reading food labels, look out for key indicators like the amount of sugar, sodium, and saturated fats. Pay attention to serving sizes, as they can be sneaky sometimes! And don’t forget the added ingredients. Whilst some may be harmless, others could be hiding things you'd rather avoid. At Bio-az, we prioritise the formulation and packaging of our ingredients in strict accordance with the latest compliance regulations. Each of our products undergoes thorough labelling to ensure accuracy, clarity, and full compliance with national regulations. With Bio-az, you can trust that our scientifically validated ingredients deliver their full benefits every time.
