🌞 Did you know the history of solar energy dates back to 1883 when Charles Fritts, a brilliant inventor, created the world's first solar panel! 🌱🔆 Using a thin layer of selenium coated with an extremely thin layer of gold, he pioneered the concept of converting sunlight into electricity. Although the early solar cells had a modest conversion electrical efficiency of about 1%, Fritts' groundbreaking work laid the foundation for the solar revolution we see today. Over the years, advancements in solar technology have led to significantly higher efficiency and more accessible renewable energy solutions. Thanks to visionaries like Charles Fritts, we now harness the power of the sun to create clean and sustainable electricity, reducing our carbon footprint and contributing to a greener planet. 🌍🍃 Let's celebrate the legacy of Charles Fritts and all the innovators who have driven the solar industry forward! I am thrilled to announce that the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) and Greenhouse have joined forces to launch the Solar ScaleUp Challenge! ☀ 💡 💚 With a total funding pool of AU $100M 💰, this Challenge aims to support innovation, cost reduction, and scalability in large-scale solar deployment across Australia 🤩. The goal is to push the boundaries of technological solutions and collaborations to unlock the full potential of solar energy in Australia. By leveraging innovations in financing, installation, maintenance, asset life extension, robotics, AI and more, the goal is to achieve economies of scale that will significantly reduce the cost of solar power and maximise its deployment potential. Australia's large-scale solar deployment could significantly bolster the creation of new industrial sectors, export markets, jobs, and economic growth. Imagine an Australia where a gigawatt solar farm powers a desalination plant, producing water for an electrolyser, which, in turn, generates green hydrogen. This hydrogen could then be utilised to produce green iron, either for export or for use in an electric arc furnace (also powered by solar) to manufacture steel. This integrated approach not only enhances economic opportunities but also champions sustainable development and innovation. That is the Australia I want to live in! 🇦🇺 🦄 The Solar ScaleUp Challenge embodies the spirit of collaborative climate action, featuring multiple TeamUp events and a transparent submission process designed to foster connection and innovation. 🤝 Join us for our first Ask Me Anything event on Wednesday morning (June 26), Australian Eastern Time, to learn more about this exciting initiative. Radiant Sun Empowering Everything Did you know the first practical solar cells were invented in 1954 at Bell Laboratories? Scientists Gerald Pearson, Daryl Chapin, and Calvin Fuller created the first photovoltaic cell that could convert enough sunlight into electricity for use. This pioneering solar cell had an efficiency of around 6%. While expensive initially, it paved the way for the development of affordable solar panels that convert the sun's energy into renewable electricity we use today. The 1954 Bell Labs solar cell sparked the growth of modern photovoltaic technology based on its basic design still used in most solar panels worldwide. #ClimateChange #lifestyle #investments #investment #InvestmentOpportunity #cleanenergyfuture #gogreen #Sustainability #SustainableLiving #cleanenergy #CleanEnergyRevolution #investing #green #SustainableInvesting #GoGreen #sustainableenergy #climatesolutions #renewable #GreenLiving #GreenFuture #solarpanels #climatechange #Solarenergy #solarenergy #renewableenergy #RenewableEnergy

Set your eyes on achieving net zero? Carbon neutrality related #ESG goals are not possible until buildings are entirely powered by renewable energy. With this in mind, assets’ energy efficiency through PV systems must become a priority if owners and occupiers are to achieve their commitments. One of the most accessible solutions in obtaining green energy relies on the #industrial & #logistics segment, due to the generous surfaces of the roofs. Rooftop solar PVs can also be the answer to one of the local market challenges – the difficulties posed by the legislation, encountered by PV projects on agricultural lands. Ready to further explore the opportunity of photovoltaics in I&L, in relation to market specifics? Get in touch with Victor Rachita for in-depth insights, integrated into a broad overall perspective.
