It's solstice, which marks the day of the longest day of the year. And this day is something that is celebrated across the world. For good reason. The celebration of the sun is important, as the sun is our primary natural resource of energy and life in general. From our perspective, we can see the impressive uptake in solar PV installations starting to accelerate – something that only means we at SCADA International will continue being busy in the years to come. If you want to know more about the current solar PV landscape, our research team just launched a new report, focusing on the rise and challenges of global solar PV deployment. Click on the link below to download it. #solarPV #renewablefuture
As we mark the solstice, the longest day of the year, we want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible power of the sun and its vital role in our lives. The power of the sun is actually beginning to take the front stage when we look at the development of renewable installations. Solar PV was ascribed to 67% of last year’s projected increase in global renewable capacity. And this steep growth is mainly due to an uptake in distributed PV systems, lower modular market prices, and a policy push for large-scale deployments. While these numbers are almost as bright as the sun, there are also several clouds on the horizon that push back the development. In this new report, we delve into the solar PV boom currently reshaping the global energy landscape, highlighting some of the main opportunities and challenges that the industry is facing. Floatovoltaics’ moment in the sun (pun intended) Europe’s largest floating solar farm yet is planned to achieve commissioning in 2025! Capacity: 78 MW - 134, 649 solar panels Developer: Q ENERGY Location: Haute-Marne, France Global total installed capacity of floatovoltaics: 5.9 GW (as of 2023) The most extolled value of floatovoltaics is land use. Floating solar farms are typically deployed on buoyant platforms on water surfaces and anchored to be bottom using cables. Deployment of solar does not have to be accompanied by change in land use! #fairgreen #floatovoltaics

ERCOT’s December solar performance soared to its highest level since 2007! This data normalises generation to 2023 capacity, and shows Texas just had the best December for solar generation in a long time. Solcast, a DNV company analysis shows that ERCOT utility scale production in December was 20% above the long-term average. With its southern latitude, Texas receives up to 3 times more December irradiance than the northern US border, highlighting its potential as a solar powerhouse! Learn more about this and the December irradiance patterns in North America in our latest pv magazine Global report: https://lnkd.in/g5rUc6j4 If you're operating or building solar projects in Texas, connect with our team to explore how you can track and optimise your asset performance. #solar #renewableenergy Mike Davey Stephen Lightfoote Taylor Grafton Gwendalyn Bender Will Holmgren

It's solstice, which marks the day of the longest day of the year. A day full of sun (hopefully), laughter, and good-old Danish “hygge.” In Denmark, summer solstice sometimes coincides with Sankt Hans, which we celebrate with bonfires on the beaches, songs, and – again – “hygge.” This year, it falls on Sunday, June 23. And the celebration of the sun is an important one, as it is our primary natural resource for energy and life in general.
