🚨 Cyclone Daanaa Alert: Odisha Prepares for Impact 🚨 Cyclone Daanaa is currently 150 km away from Paradip, and 11 districts are expected to be affected, with Balasore, Bhadrak, and Kendrapara among the most vulnerable. The Odisha government has already evacuated 3.4 lakh people, aiming to relocate 3.7-3.8 lakh in total. Here are the key preparations made: - Relief Centers: 7,307 centers (842 permanent, 6,445 temporary) have been set up, with 4,756 already operational. - Food and Supplies: Cooked food, infant food, and milk are available at all relief centers. - Animal Protection: 360 shelters have been set up for livestock, with 6,454 animals relocated. - Medical Aid: 213 medical teams and 120 teams for livestock are ready. - Evacuations: 3,700 pregnant women relocated, with two safe deliveries reported. - Response Teams: 19 NDRF, 51 ODRAF, 95 OFDC, 220 fire service teams are deployed, alongside 385 response teams on the ground. Anganwadi and ASHA workers are also actively engaged. The expected landfall will occur between midnight and 4 AM in the Bhitarkanika-Dhamra area. On February 11th, 2024, Future Generations Afghanistan, with the financial support of UNDP Afghanistan , distributed livestock, food processing, and greenhouse tools to 140 female-headed households in Nari, Khas Kunar and Asadabad districts of Kunar province. This distribution was done under the "Area-Based Approach to Development Emergency Initiative" funded by UNDP and implemented by FGA. Forty female-headed households received livestock, while 50 and 45 households received food processing tools and greenhouse tools, respectively. This project aims to support female-headed households by providing them with tools and resources to help them improve their livelihoods and enhance their food security. #UNDP #FGA

Pakistan's donkey population has increased by 100,000, from 5.8 million to 5.9 million, in the outgoing fiscal year. The cattle population has also risen by 2 million to 57.5 million, while buffalo numbers have increased by 1.3 million, sheep by 400,000, and goats by 2.3 million. The camel population has grown by 100,000, and horses by 400,000. The livestock sector contributes significantly to Pakistan's economy, accounting for 35-40% of families' income and 14.63% of the national GDP in FY2024. The sector's gross value addition has increased by 3.9% to Rs 5,804 billion in 2023-24 from Rs 5,587 billion in 2022-23.
