The legal and regulatory gray areas of food delivery workers - and the pressing economic, safety, and equity issues involved - have become a major issue in New York and other large cities. This new report from the New York City Bar Association is the first resource I'm aware of that really gets into the details of how we got where we are and what a sensible policy framework could look like going forward, organized around the themes of Safety; Courier Protection; the Private Sector; Public Resources; and Effective Regulation. Check it out. H/T Matthew W. Daus

OUR FOOD IS #TOO_BIG_TO_FAIL We must drive out #Complacency, #Complicity, #Predatory_Practices & #Superficiality Our individual and collective #competence is put to the test when #frivolity is challenged by #real_life events, experiences, and the need for effective solutions: Like shooting at shadows many participants in the food sector are happy to celebrate vague generalities and equivocations that are based on POP Psychology myths and misconceptions. These are widely promoted about or by: "#Dedicated_individuals who are doing a lot of good work in food safety. #Outstanding_professionals who are driving positive change across the food industry. #Impactful_Leaders who are making waves the world of food safety. #Passionate_advocates who are shaping a stronger food safety culture for the future. #Training providers who make vague claims about making a positive difference in people’s lives with their training programs." Many desperate and naïve members of the food safety community have and are still falling for these vague claims that lack substance. You should watch out for these marks of the #POP_Culture that are demonstrated in the listed examples of vague claims: · #Prevarication - evading the truth and ignoring the evidence. · #Obfuscations - being deliberately evasive, unclear, or confusing. · #Paltering - making vague and unreliable statements about intentions or insincere promises, including unverified, hasty, and uninformed conclusions. #Better_is_possible. Why not join the #2S_QA_Movement? It is driven by this motivation, inspiration, and premise: “If we do not energize the Food Industry Transformation Process through the direct actions of every stakeholder, our good intentions, aspirations, and proposals will only hover aimlessly in the space of academic and theoretical discourse without realizing the necessary (desirable) results.” https://lnkd.in/gW46fPi6

In an unexpected twist, Donald Trump's recent campaign stop at a Pennsylvania McDonald's coincides with an alarming E. coli outbreak linked to the fast-food giant. While Trump donned an apron and served fries with a wink to voters, the flood of satirical Yelp reviews exposing his antics paints a different picture. Critics, including Democratic candidate Tim Walz, seized this moment to spotlight the disconnect between Trump and everyday Americans. Meanwhile, McDonald's faces a health crisis affecting dozens across the nation, with stock dropping 6% in reaction. The irony of a political stunt intersects ominously with significant food safety concerns, raising questions about our fast-food regulations and public health. As we witness such events unfold, it’s clear: the intersection of politics and food safety issues not only shapes public perception but challenges our trust in major brands. Can McDonald's recover? And how will this impact Trump's campaign momentum? Let's discuss.
