🚀🌟 Iniziativa participated in the first Industry 5.0 stakeholder event organized by the PROSPECTS 5.0 Horizon Europe Project in Brussels on May 29th. 🌍🤝 During the event, Giovanni Arnaboldi presented our SURE Project and BRIDGESMEs projects, focusing on support activities for the 5.0 transition. 🔍✨ In particular, for SURE5.0, Iniziativa is implementing an assessment of the level of Industry 5.0 readiness of the SMEs involved in the acceleration program, conducting in-depth interviews with companies to provide recommendations and ad-hoc services for business innovation. 📊💡 The BRIDGESMEs presentation focused on the study on obstacles and needs of SMEs from 5 industrial ecosystems involved in the transition towards Industry 5.0, as well as on the open call recently launched for the expression of interest of start-ups and tech-savvy enterprises. We are grateful for the interest shown in our projects and for the stimulating questions asked by the participants: a strong desire has emerged to "create a system" in the field of Industry 5.0, to collaborate to overcome challenges and achieve common goals. 💪🤝 We thank the organizers for making this event possible and we look forward to more collaboration opportunities with like-minded partners to create a more sustainable, resilient and human-centred industry. 🌱🔧🤖 For more information on the BRIDGESMEs open call for tech-savvy SMEs, follow this link ➡️ https://lnkd.in/d_gjBt4H #Industry50 #Innovazione #HorizonEurope #TransizioneDigitale #PMI #Tecnologia #Sostenibilità #IniziativaCube #SURE50 #BRIDGESMEs

Last week, SMRT.bio joined the Digital 4 SME Roundtable in Paris. We especially shared the importance of the micro SMEs for Europe's transformation towards green, digitalization, inclusion, and building a safe continent. The backbone of any thriving economy lies in its talent pool and entrepreneurial spirit, which drives innovation and expansion. It's crucial for individuals to hone their abilities, not only to secure a decent income (aligned with SDG-8) and make meaningful contributions to their communities. Talent development and job creation are needed for economic transformation at scale and speed. Existing solutions are siloed and often inaccessible to Micro SMEs (MSMEs) that employ less than 20 staff. Yet, this segment makes up more than 90% of all employers in EU-27 (20M companies), representing 50% of the labour force (105M people). Although MSMEs play a crucial role in economic growth, which is vital for the EU's transition, these enterprises often lack access to easy-to-use and affordable talent management technology. At best, they end up with a patchwork of apps and systems that cannot combine talent management, personal growth and business development. Thanks to Marco Bianchini, Maria Sobron Bernal, Valentino Valentini, Matteo Bandiera, Antonio Grasso, Ayman El Tarabishy, Raffaele Trapasso and many others! #smrtbio #entrepreneurship #SMEs #innovation #skills #skillsgap #AI

🎣 How do we foster innovation through external collaborations? Prior to engaging the ecosystem of experts in extensive knowledge-sharing and insights gathering from knowledge platforms, I concur that selecting the right Open Innovation (OI) mechanisms is crucial, taking into account project complexity [Bagherzadeh, 2024]. A practical framework tailored to project-level dynamics is outlined in 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝟕 “𝐴𝑙𝑖𝑔𝑛𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑂𝐼 𝑀𝑒𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑖𝑠𝑚𝑠 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑃𝑟𝑜𝑗𝑒𝑐𝑡 𝐴𝑡𝑡𝑟𝑖𝑏𝑢𝑡𝑒𝑠”, as discussed by Mehdi Bagherzadeh during the enlightening #OIThursday hosted by Marisol Menendez (link: https://lnkd.in/dixF6Vcd). Thanks to targeted OI 𝐡𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 actions, corporates engaged in open R&D (innovation seekers) can identify potential solution-providers with specialized expertise, often beyond the reach of traditional crowdsourcing methods (𝐟𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 open calls). Turning to the knowledge-sharing (by innovation providers) … kudos to Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy for backing KNOWLEDGE SHARE -Where Innovation Happens, a platform aggregating and showcasing almost all patents, discoveries, startups and spin-off companies emerging from 🇮🇹 Italian public research. Remarkable effort by Shiva Loccisano, Tech Transfer Expert and the whole team (+ Erre Quadro)! 👏🏻 KNOWLEDGE SHARE -Where Innovation Happens is a joint venture involving Associazione Netval, UIBMS and Politecnico di Torino. Thanks to Nicoletta Amodio Fondazione Mai Confindustria, and nicola michelon massimo barbin Confindustria Veneto Est for hosting the presentation event yesterday in Padova. Looking forward to see this best practice embracing further international TTO inputs and implementing #OIwall for even more effective 𝐊 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 for the sake of 🇪🇺 #EUResearch and global businesses! #shapingthefuture #openinnovation #innovationmanagement #absorptivecapacity #boundaryspanning #innovationscouting #IPvalorisation #techtransfer #infinitearea

While recognising that #innovation is unpredictable and unlikely to be linear, improving the way new products are brought to the #market and made successful could enable #SouthAfrica to produce #innovations that support #economicgrowth and #socialdevelopment. It would also establish itself as a more competitive innovation destination. At its core, developing #technologies successfully demand #investment, an understanding of the institutional landscape, specialised skills, and the ability to identify opportunities. Funding opportunities! 💡The European Innovation Council (EIC) has launched its 2024 work programme, aimed to drive innovation and entrepreneurship in Europe. Some of the strategic areas are the Net Zero Industry, Critical Raw Materials and Health Emergency Responses. 🔗 Our colleague Elena Pérez Ruiz, PhD explains us in this article details on the new EIC WP: https://lnkd.in/e7KHF3Cd Over €1.2 billion will be provided to fund advanced research, develop business plans and marketing innovations in various fields. Non-financial support to accelerate and scale up innovations will also be part of the portfolio. 🔃 The EIC 2024 programme has introduced adjustments following Board feedback, such as lump-sum cost model, measures to safeguard Europe from economic security risks and revisited eligibility criteria. It is expected that the EIC will keep strengthening synergies with other institutions – for example, the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) – and fostering platforms such as STEP to increase the financing capabilities. #EIC2024 #EuropeanFunding #ResearchAndDevelopment #Entrepeneurship #SMEs #EuropeanInnovationCouncil #eicaccelerator #eicpathfinder # #eictransition
