[📢 Event] Operating a Heat-Reuse HPC Cloud Platform: we are thrilled to share our experience at the first edition of the PremDay Conference! Qarnot was one of the speakers at this exclusive event where Criteo, Scaleway, i3D.net and moji.fr shared their experience of managing fleets of servers on-premise. This one-day event fostered open discussions on performance, architecture, cooling, power efficiency, firmware, rack density, and impact on cost efficiency. It provided a unique opportunity for infrastructure operators and vendors to exchange valuable insights and explore new solutions. During the conference, Yoann Ricordel, Lead senior software engineer at Qarnot, presented our heat-reuse HPC cloud platform, highlighting the challenges and constraints of operating such a system. Our focus included: 🔹 Custom racks design with cooling systems: Designed to optimize heat reuse, turning waste heat into valuable energy for applications like domestic heating, industries, and swimming pools. 🔹 Energy efficiency: Extracting as much energy as possible, up to 95% efficiency. 🔹 High-temperature components to maximize the value of captured heat. We also discussed: 🔸 The importance of custom cooling solutions. 🔸 The benefits of geographical distribution for edge data centers. 🔸 The need for logical security measures to manage diverse physical security levels across sites. Thank you to AMD, Dell Technologies, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, KIOXIA Europe GmbH, Open Compute Project Foundation, and Supermicro for supporting this project. A big thanks to Criteo and Scaleway for hosting the first edition!
