How can we redesign the future of fashion? - Available to watch now! 🎉 We’re excited to announce the launch of our short film part of the #FashionRedressed series, presented by Global Fashion Agenda and produced for us by BBC StoryWorks The film follows Jules Lennon, the Foundation’s Fashion Lead, as she explores how we can redesign the future of the fashion industry. Moving away from a take, make, waste, linear economy and instead, building an industry that designs products to be used more, made to be made again and made from safe and recycled or renewable inputs. Jules meets with Primark, to discuss their participation in The Jeans Redesign - delving into how the brand used the project’s guidelines as a moment of acceleration to apply circular economy principles to other garments. Proving that circular design can become the norm. All businesses are encouraged to take additional and more ambitious steps to redesigning products. Then, we must not only redesign the products of the future, but also transform the systems that deliver them and keep them in use. No matter how much press and investment goes into innovation around textile, rental, and recycling, the stark reality remains: fashion brands must fundamentally rethink their production strategies. This means having a clear strategy to move away from traditional bulk production and extended forecasting periods. As we support incredible brands in piloting Just-in-Time manufacturing for the SS24 season, here are the guiding principles we use, alongside our Manny, our AI production flow technology - 1 — Forecast fabrics, not SKU’s. 2 — Shift from “starting margins” to a “full price sell through” mindset. 3 — Build strategic relationships with suppliers. 4 — Implement KPIs around reducing Net Production Volumes. 5 — Experiment with different lengths of re-stock period for different categories. The objective is clear - reduce emissions while increasing net profits. Use this tool to figure out the commercial benefits your brand could reap by transitioning to JIT model. PS - it's still a work in progress - https://lnkd.in/e8EEhiUv #overproduction #oversupply #aiforsustainability #CO2eMitigation Elliot Barlow, Lauren Junestrand Leal, Debbie Luffman FRSA, Yoobin Jung, Jody Plows, Siri Vikman, Esther Haitink, Samantha Taylor, Patricia Ahufinger, Ankur Agarwal, Irene M.

The EU is leading the way to a greener and fairer fashion industry. By banning the destruction of unsold goods, it is pushing brands to rethink their production models and reduce their environmental impact. AI can also play a key role in helping brands create what consumers really want and need, and avoid excess inventory and waste. #sustainablepractices #transparency #ai #digitalproductpassport #circularity #ambition
