Day - 2 - 07/23/2024 On Day 2 of the QUADE Knowledge Upscale Program for our engineering students, our CEO, Santhosh A, covered an important topic: "Competence." He explained what is required to get placed in the right job, focusing on the integration of three key elements: Attitude, Skills, and Knowledge. Santhosh A also clarified the difference between Knowledge and Skills with relevant examples. To help them understand the true meaning of a "good attitude," he broke it down into three components: "Self-Image," "Trait," and "Motive." 1. Self-Image: How a person sees themselves in a job role. 2. Trait: Genetically determined characteristics that add value or diminish the value of your skills, such as honesty, curiosity, and kindness. 3. Motive: The deeper purpose driving a person's behavior, essentially "why they do what they do." At the end of the session, everyone shared their current Skills, Knowledge, and Attitude, and committed to learning new skills, updating their knowledge, and cultivating good habits while eliminating negative traits. Meeting academic advisor reflection On the 18th of November, a meeting with academic advisor was held during Plant Science orientation program. I also met with my beloved academic advisor, Dr. Hashimah. We met our academic advisor as a group under Dr. Hashimah. Before the meeting started, I expected to discuss academic matters, sharing about life during our study and getting to know new fellow mentees (year 1 students). In that meeting, I introduced myself, shared about how I changed my program from Resource Chemistry to Plant Science, shared our problems and discussed how to get and maintain good results during these 3 years and a half of study. The outcomes from that meeting, I’ve got what I expected from the meeting, and we together found solution to our problems. Final year students shared about their internship experiences and many more tips during study, from that I’ve learned new things from them how to face the upcoming challenges. Our academic advisor, Dr. Hashimah, also gave some advice to all of us that will help us to reach our target. 

Time my CGPA went from 5.5 to 9! .. .. This is the story of my 3rd year of college. I was studying some UPSC stuff in library along with my friend. And suddenly my laptop screen got struck with something and broke. now , fixing that would require around 3k and I didnt had any. plus there was no point of asking that from home, because my family conditions were not so good either. So , I accepted the fact that this semester will go without laptop. Now for study purposes we needed laptop, not for coding but for making notes , watching online lectures and things like that. So I used to go to our Computer Centre at out college and do my stuff. Because of which I developed a consistency and maybe a bit of sincerity towards my core subject of Material science and Metallurgy. At the end of the semester we went to do a intern in RINL and when we got our results , I along with my friends was shocked seeing my grades. Later in time, me and one of my friend participated in GK quiz organized in our college , and came 1st winning us a amount of 2k. Which went toward the screen repair budget of my laptop. But things happen for reason, that one semester high CG was useful for me as my final CG was just above 7. and 7 use to be the cutoff for most companies in Campus Placements! CGPA should be highly prioritized for the first 3-4 semesters in engineering. Cause after that, it's difficult to change it significantly. I observed this in almost all of my peers at IIT(including mine). My CGPA after the 4th sem was around the same as the CGPA I finally graduated with. How? If you have a credit-based scoring system, your overall CGPA is calculated by dividing by the total number of credits. And this denominator keeps increasing every semester. After 3rd or 4th semester this denominator gets large enough that even scoring a very high SGPA(semester GPA) won't affect your CGPA much. Let's take an example. Let's say your CGPA after the 4th sem is 8.5 with 90 credits and you've 23 credits this sem. Even if you score 9.0 this semester(which is pretty hard in an engineering college), your final CGPA would be 8.6. A difference of 0.1. This difference will keep on decreasing as total credits increase and the denominator keeps on increasing. Also after the 4th semester, students get busy with internship/placement preparations etc. So it gets even more difficult to score well and change CGPA. One should focus a lot on their CGPA in the first 3-4 semesters.

Good Morning!! I’m working off of little sleep but got to college early. Don’t worry, I’ve grabbed a Gingerbread latte at the cafe. I’m ready to get this assignment out of the way to be honest. Next month I’ll be in Building Construction and Building Materials Science. I’m not sure what to think yet. 😩 Most people go into construction because they hate #science and #math. In fact, most of my classmates were upset that they have to take these classes as they are #quantitysurveying apprentices, #cad apprentices, etc. #STEM My manager says he’ll see what I’ll learn about metal properties such as nickel. I heard a bit of maths is still required in the course, so we shall see. -1st Semester: Laying the Foundation The first semester was all about laying the ground work. I put lots of emphasis into getting a grip of fundamental principles as they were to be the back bone of my academic journey. This prepared me well enough to enable me handle more challenging courses in subsequent semesters. -2nd Semester: Building Knowledge In the second semester, I added to my knowledge from term one. It was a time for me to consolidate and broaden my understanding in readiness for tougher assignments. My major objectives were high grades and better understanding of intricate calculations. -3rd Semester: Joining an Organization I chose to join a student organization voluntarily during the third semester so that I could gain leadership skills and learn teamwork. This experience was very important for me because it made me grow personally, changed my world view and gave me room for self-improvement. -4th Semester: Going Deeper with Organizational Participation Throughout the fourth semester, I continued being involved with this organization by advancing in higher ranks/positions. Therefore, it improved on my leadership competence and helped in building valuable networks for future use. -5th Semester: Enhancing My Technological Skills I utilized this period to diversify my technical competence. I registered for selective courses and participated in activities that suited my academic interests, where the main objective was to acquire knowledge relevant to professional duties. -6th Semester: Electrical Engineering Progress My sixth semester had been dedicated towards growth of my electrical engineering knowledge. I intended to become immersed in specialized lessons and research works aimed at testing the limits of what I know, as well as actively participating in the field. It was a desire to be prepared for my future career that made me commit myself fully toward this goal. -7th Semester: Practical Experience Acquisition During the seventh semester, it was anticipated that I would gain practical experience through internships or community service programs. This phase is designed to enhance my professional competencies and help me move from theory into practice. -8th Semester: Writing Thesis In my final semester, there was one primary item on m mind—my thesis. This final paper allowed me an opportunity to prove what I knew regarding some things during the course. The PACE program is offered at MILLER CAREER & TECHNOLOGY CENTER in the Katy Independent School District. The acronym stands for Professional Advancement through Career Education. PACE is a competitive course offered to graduating seniors only, which has gained popularity over the last few years. PACE students must have a GPA of 3.8 or higher to apply – in other words, high achievers drawing the top students from across the district. During the present 2023 – 2024 school year, R.G. Miller | DCCM partnered with PACE, by providing a 17-week internship for graduating senior Nicholas Ding. Nicholas, a student at Seven Lakes High School worked with various members of our engineering teams under the guidance of R.G. Miller’s President, Mark Gehringer, PE, Chief Executive Officer, Jack Miller, P.E., and Vice President of Development Operations, Caleb Stone. The real world doesn’t need to be a memory test. I have often found myself drafting or reviewing electrical technical documentation with half my time wasted trying to remember the symbols and their meanings. The illusion that knowledge learnt at university or during an apprenticeship will remain with you, until the exact moment you need it, is probably one of the biggest lies we tell ourselves in this industry. So, I have attached an IET download 'cheat sheet'. Hopefully enough to help you shake off the grey matter and speed up your technical productions and reviews 😊

Hello, let me introduce myself, my name is Radja Rechwan Arief Suja’i NRP 502241008, a new student of electrical engineering, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology. Here I make a poster about my life plan for the future for a period of eight semesters. As it should be, someone must have a target such as planning for the future in order to have the motivation to be able to complete the plans that have been made and determined. A student's academic journey is an adventure full of challenges and opportunities. Each semester offers different opportunities to learn, develop, and prepare for a bright future. New students are starting a new chapter in their lives. This is the time to adapt to the campus environment, meet new friends, and understand the structure of the lectures. At this stage, it is important for students to master academic basics such as study skills, time management, and note-taking techniques. Students begin to deepen their knowledge in their chosen fields of study. Students should also focus more on courses that support their specific interests. Taking an active role in student organizations and participating in competitions or contests can be a valuable experience. Participating in a student exchange program can also add to the experience as a student who does not just stay on campus. Students must also be able to strengthen soft skills such as communication and leadership by participating in training and workshops. As students, they must be able to take on more responsibility in academics and organizations. Students can become teaching assistants, lead research projects, or serve as chair of student organizations on campus. In addition, students must also focus on completing their final assignments and preparing to enter the workforce or further education. Undergoing an internship or part-time work that is relevant to their field of study can provide valuable experience. Students also need to start preparing themselves for job interviews and postgraduate selection tests. Completing a final assignment or thesis, attending a defense, and taking a comprehensive exam are top priorities for students, because if one of them fails, the student cannot be declared to have graduated. A life plan can help students achieve their academic and professional goals. Of course, with focus, perseverance, discipline, and dedication, every student can achieve success and make a positive impact in the field they are in.
