Recently, I had an exclusive interview with Asian Power Awards, discussing the Hazelwood BESS (HBESS) jointly funded and developed by ENGIE and Eku Energy, with which Fluence has won the 2023 Gold Award in the Battery Storage Project of the Year category. The HBESS marks a significant milestone as one of the first battery-based energy storage systems sited within a decommissioned coal-fired power plant in Victoria's Latrobe Valley in Australia. It uses Fluence’s Gridstack product in delivering the full turnkey project. Due to the modular design of Fluence Gridstack, the HBESS has the potential to be expanded to a longer duration system, which will support a greater need to shift energy between times of plentiful renewable generation and evening peaks. HBESS also uses Fluence's automated trading software, Mosaic to maximise revenue by participating in the Australian NEM. HBESS is a key step towards Victoria's ambitious energy storage target of 2.6 GW by 2030 and 6.3 GW by 2035. Global energy merchant Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), through its Energy Transition Fund, and Uniper have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen their collaboration on the production, transport, and marketing of #greenhydrogen from CIP’s HØST PtX Esbjerg project, located on the Danish West Coast, to Germany.   It is expected that by the end of 2028, HØST will be connected to the German #hydrogen backbone via a new hydrogen #pipeline developed from Denmark to Germany by the Danish transmission system operator Energinet, in cooperation with Gasunie Deutschland Transport Services. This connection will enable access to consumption sites in Germany and help deliver competitively priced green hydrogen to the German market.   In partnership, CIP and Uniper will develop a model to deliver up to 140,000 tons of green hydrogen annually to customers in Germany. Uniper plans to incorporate the green hydrogen from HØST into its green gas portfolio and supply industries with varying flexibility profiles and different contract lengths.

We've done it: another long-term PPA has been signed and sealed, expanding our client portfolio to nine companies! Our 55 MW Fundici solar park in Guillena, Spain will supply Schouw & Co. with green electricity for the next 10 years. 🌞 The PPA is expected to start in H1 2025. ⚡ Under the PPA, Schouw & Co. will receive around 88 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electricity per year from Encavis (880 GWh over 10 years). 🌍 This corresponds to more than 40% of the electricity consumption of Schouw & Co.'s European operations. Mario Schirru, CIO/COO of Encavis AG says: “We are very pleased to have entered into this PPA with Schouw & Co., a renowned company. The cooperation demonstrates that Spain is one of the most important PPA markets in Europe. With 500 MW operational and additional 317 MW under construction we have a strong market presence in Spain, which we will further expand, and a significant pipeline for many more PPAs to come.” 🚀 This is another milestone for Encavis on our way to becoming one of the leading suppliers of renewable energy in Europe. Low Carbon is pleased announce a milestone in the construction of VIFOR Wind Farm in Romania.   Alongside Rezolv Energy, finance loan facilities of up to €291 million have been secured to support the initial construction of the wind farm. Phase 1 of the VIFOR project will install 192MW in capacity underpinned by five landmark commercial power purchase agreements (PPAs). Construction is scheduled to be completed within 18 months, with the wind farm coming onstream before the end of 2025. A planned expansion to 461MW will take place in Phase 2.   “Once built, Vifor will be one of the largest wind projects in Eastern Europe and reinforces our track record of working with institutional investors to deliver large-scale renewable infrastructure, while playing a key role supporting Romania’s efforts to decarbonise its electricity grid,” according to Martin Langham FIET , Managing Director at Low Carbon Investment Management.   Once completed this project will power the equivalent of more than 270,000 homes and will avoid approximately 540,000 tonnes of CO2e annually.   View the project here: https://lnkd.in/eXFRpFnB Low Carbon is on a mission.  Exciting news for the renewable energy space in Denmark! 🌞 Reel and Energicenter Nord have just inked a major five-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with 25 Danish companies to support the construction of a new 14-MW solar park in Mesballe, Djursland. This solar project is set to generate 14 GWh of clean electricity annually, enough to power around 3,100 local homes! Among the companies involved are Danica Ejendomme, Kvadrat, JP/Politikens Hus, Aquaporin, the Danish Society of Engineers (IDA), Viggo, and GPV Group. This partnership marks a significant step towards making renewable energy accessible to companies of all sizes while driving local value creation. As Jon Sigvert, CEO of Reel, says, “This PPA marks a significant milestone in our journey to make renewable energy accessible – and attractive – for all companies, regardless of size.” Looking forward to seeing how this collaboration helps accelerate Denmark’s transition to a greener energy landscape.
