DENSO heat pumps now in Ford Motor Company Mach-e EV research site Recurrent reported that heat pumps can improve drivable range in below freezing temperatures by about 8 to 10 percent. The site tested this by comparing the ranges of 2020 Model 3 and Model S vehicles that lack heat pumps against 2021 versions that have them.

EV Heat pumps in are becoming pretty standard on EVs and are much more efficient in the cold! Tesla & Audi show a significant increase of efficiency regarding heat pumps in this article! Why EV heat pumps are critically important? - increased range of EVs….without extra batteries being made or bought! - reduced time spent charging - reduces costs to charge up - reduces pressure on the electrical grid - can increase the number EVs on the grid - reduces the need & costs to upgrade grids - reduces pollution from power generation, as the EVs are more efficient to travel the same distance. - reduces range anxiety Do you see any other advantages or disadvantages to EV heat pumps?

Heat pumps help electric vehicles (EVs) in Norway cope with cold weather by warming the cabin and battery. Heat pumps are more efficient than resistance heaters and can help EVs maintain their range in cold weather. EVs work fine in the cold in Norway.
