DreamApply Co-founder Märt Aro spoke at the Google for Education Leaders Conference. Märt discussed Estonia's digitization journey and how EdTech innovation is enabling global access to education. Examples included simplified student enrollment with DreamApply and speech therapy with SpeakTX. Given the positive feedback from 10 ministries of education and the interest in the Estonian models, there is a possibility to arrange a public webinar together with the Ministry of Education and Research of Estonia / Haridus- ja Teadusministeerium and EdTech Estonia if there are more than 20 requests for it. MAKING THINGS HAPPEN If I have seen something in the Center for Digital Technology and Management (CDTM) community, it is the will and the impulse to make things happen. Against all odds or adversities. That’s what it means to be the innovators of tomorrow. But in a time like this, when the #DANA has hit #Valencia so hard, I’ve also seen other things in CDTM that make me proud of this community. 💙🫂 I’ve seen a strong support from Center for Digital Technology and Management (CDTM) in Valencia people to those who were affected. I have seen solidarity, kindness and the will to make things better for everyone. 💚🌳 I’ve also seen how there’s a sensitivity and leaning towards solving environmental challenges (and this DANA is definitely a big one). It is not for nothing that many of the startups that former CDTM students found happen to be related to climate. I’m curious to see what are the next solutions that our community will be creating to address these complex challenges. Above the ☁️ 'clouds' of Turin (Italy), Francesco Bonfiglio, CEO at Dynamo | The European Cloud Alternative, shared insightful key messages today at the D4SME workshop that are undoubtedly worth highlighting here. The D4SME workshop, co-hosted by the OECD - OCDE Centre for Entrepreneurship, SMEs, Regions and Cities, the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, and the CIM4.0 - Competence Center (for Industry Manufacturing), also featured three breakout sessions with international experts, focussing on the coordination of national policies and local Competence Centres to achieve key objectives. Francesco highlighted in this round: 📍 We need to shift from the stereotype of building #skills around existing technologies to creating new technologies and adopting emerging solutions to drive innovative outcomes; 📍#LateralThinking and new solution design are key skills for the future, as coding and the use of tech will be fully commoditized within the next five years; 📍 #BigTech companies are exactly doing so by hiring smart minds to create solutions and innovate. They are not only influencing widely our education system, but colonizing it, forcing the concept that we need more certifications in their technologies, thus shaping how we approach skill development and learning. ❗❗ This is the perfect mechanism to make #Europe culturally and economically dependent from their platforms, while simultaneously maintaining the ability to drive innovation on their own terms and to their own benefits. Emerging tech for Higher Ed and campus environments: this is for you! EDUCAUSE curates strong relationships among campus leaders, and they are looking to meet emerging tech providers in these focus areas: 1) cybersecurity & IT infrastructure, 2) enterprise solutions, or 3) teaching & learning solutions?

How can #universities adapt to the rapidly changing socio-technical landscape and embrace #digital #transformation in education? What are the #technology-related needs for the universities to proactively engage in #unavoidable #institutional #change? At the #EuroMed2024 Conference hosted by the European Mediterranean Academy of Business (EMAB), I had the incredible opportunity to explore this question in depth. Together with my colleague Dr. Erika Vaiginiene we delivered a presentation on "High intelligent tutoring system (#HITSproject) for academic success: Needs and Priorities of High Education educators to ITS”. We discussed how cutting-edge #AI-driven #tutoring #systems are shaping the future of education, enabling #personalized #learning experiences, #nonbiased #grading, while addressing the evolving needs of students and faculty in a tech-driven world. It was an inspiring experience to exchange ideas in our session with brilliant minds from across #Europe, the #Mediterranean and other countries, all united by the goal of making higher education more adaptive, innovative, and inclusive. I am looking forward to collaborating further and bringing these transformative ideas to life! This would not be possible without our participation at #Erasmus+ project “High Intelligent Tutoring System for Academic Success”, run by partners from 6 institutions across Europe, including Vilnius University Faculty of Economics and Business Administration.
