It’s not my job nor is it my goal to “convince” anyone into accepting a job. My role is to provide all of the necessary detailed information and help guide each side through the hiring process. Sometimes guiding people may include helping them realize that they simply need to get out of their own way. This is natural and happens frequently. Convincing people or trying to talk them into something, more times than not, will not end well in the long run, which does not benefit anyone involved. If it works and is a fit, great. I just got an offer acceptance for a candidate, whoo hoo! But my job doesn’t end there. Now I have to: ❌ Close the requisition online immediately (so no more people apply to a role that is officially filled). 📞 Follow up with the other candidates that interviewed and let them down gently. 💼 Keep those candidates in mind for other roles I have that come up! Our job doesn’t end when the candidate accepts. There are other people waiting on us for answers as well. Give them, so they can find closure and move on to the next opportunity.
