I have a son and a daughter, both members of generation Z. When they were younger, my wife and I would give them an allowance. We made them split their allowance into three buckets: savings, spending and charity. Savings they got back when they turned 18, spending can be used as they desired and charity got donated to the nonprofit of their choice. My kids normally saved up their charity dollars all year and made an end-of-the-year gift. Their gifts, and our experience in making those gifts online, inspired me to write this blog article. If you want to give a gift that’s Easter-bunny themed but won’t put animals at risk of harm, consider: Donating to a small animal charity! There are many groups working to protect and re-home small domestic animals like rabbits. A donation to one in someone’s honour can be a beautiful gift that keeps giving. Volunteering! Between humane societies, wildlife rehabilitators, and small-animal rescues, there’s no shortage of places needing help. Give some of your time with a loved one to help animals directly this way. Chocolates or candies! A gift of rabbit-shaped or themed (and plant-based) chocolate or candy is another fun way to enjoy the season and provide joy without putting animals at risk. At MyGivingCircle we have over 2,000 charities collecting donations on our platform. Our system continually tests and optimises our donation page to find the best converting elements to maximise donations for our participating charities. One element we optimise is the default (suggested) donation amount we recommend, and the minimum donation we allow. People are free to change the default amount but it provides an 'anchor' for a recommended amount. Analysing over 3,000 recent donations we can see the best performing 'ask' is $30 default (suggested) amount and a minimum donation amount of $1. Interestingly almost no-one chooses $1, but obviously people like the flexibility of being able to choose any amount. Cruelty at its worst! 200 overworked donkeys forced to carry back-breaking loads every day. 🐴 In Geita, Tanzania, 200 donkeys endure unimaginable pain, hauling punishingly heavy loads in outdated gold mining practices. These animals toil relentlessly, their spirits scarred by cruelty. We've been working tirelessly alongside our partner, the Arusha Society for the Protection of Animals (ASPA), to alleviate the suffering of these gentle creatures.  The first phase of our project, consisting of monthly mobile clinics, is complete. Now, we must launch phase two: conducting mobile clinics every three months. Phase two is a critical step in our mission to help these donkeys. It will allow us to deworm the donkeys, monitor severe cases, and ensure they receive the care they so desperately need. To accomplish this, we need to raise $12,000 (£9,800).
