✨ The EO-WIMEX project at #IGARSS2024 ✨ EO-WIMEX, funded by the European Space Agency - ESA and led by Sapienza Università di Roma, was recently presented during a poster session at IGARSS 2024 in Athens. Leveraging today's extensive EO data, and exploiting #GPU and #parallelcomputing, this project is developing a unified environment for scientists to develop, share, and reuse #earthobservation wave interaction forward and inverse models. Together with our partners, with this initiative we aim to strengthen the role of these models in the support of future and currently operating EO missions and drive the creation of new #earthscience applications. The more we collaborate with international partners, the wider the reach of #EO data and applications will be. I was glad to hear from ISRO - Indian Space Research Organization Chairman, Dr. S. Somanath that their interest to collaborate with us on #EarthObservation is stronger than ever: there is great potential to work together on the BIOMASS and FLEX missions as well as Trishna and LSTM. A common interest that came out during the meeting is the assessment of the carbon cycle and the importance of SAR missions. On the more programmatic side, discussions are advancing on activities related to implementation of COBRA (COoperative Building of Remote sensing Applications) and on the acquisition of RISAT-1A data over Europe for the benefit of the European user community. Looking forward to see the results of this cooperation that will guarantee benefits for both agencies.

Remote sensing is used in numerous fields, including geophysics, geography, land surveying and most Earth science disciplines. It is uses to collect information about a geographical area without getting into physical contact with it. The remote sensing course explains what remote sensing is and its real life applications. https://lnkd.in/dXccNQJE

In the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) geospatial analysis course using Google Earth Engine (GEE), the exploration of water dynamics was a highlight of the curriculum. In the third task, the focus was on utilizing the normalized difference water index (NDWI) in GEE to discern different water bodies(such as dried water bodies ) within a specified study area. By employing the formula (GREEN-NIR) / (GREEN+NIR), I gained practical insights into effectively extracting information about vegetation cover. The hands-on experience with NDWI analysis in GEE has significantly enhanced my ability to employ satellite imagery for detailed vegetation assessments and contribute to informed decision-making in various fields.
