Helping leaders be assertive, confident, authentic | developing purposeful, effective teams | impactful executive coaching & group facilitation that gets results | it starts with a ‘Discovery Call’
What if you trained people to refer or recommend you? I was asked to deliver a short presentation to members of my networking group this morning and I shared ‘5 Steps to Referrals’. This is such a great technique and can be applied to anyone in business but could easily apply to those of you looking for new opportunities. Let’s say you sit down for a coffee and chat with one of your contacts and you ask them for help to reach a potential customer, partner or employer. Assuming your contact wants to help you; how about you educate them to refer you in a way that really sets you up for success? Follow these 5 steps: ✅ Trust (big step) - what do you need to show your contact that creates absolute trust and they would have no hesitation in recommending you? ✅ Knowledge - what do they need to know about you and what you do, and could they talk knowledgeably about you for let's say, 2 minutes? ✅ Need (big step) - why would someone need you or what you do? And how would your contact be able to find that out? Could you equip them with a few questions to establish this? ✅ Solution - what is it you do that provides a solution to those needs? ✅ Appointment - how would you like to be introduced and what is the best way of setting up a meeting? Could they do this while the target is with them? I love delivering this session as it gets real results and forces us to think about how to train our contacts to be PROACTIVE in referring or recommending us. Let me know what you think and if there is an opportunity to speak to a group who would find this valuable, do let me know or book in with me (link in profile). #referralmarketing

**Mastering Networking and Time Blocking for Success** In today’s fast-paced world, people often underestimate the power of networking and relationship building. TRUE success isn’t just about skill; it’s about who you know and how you manage your time. High-achievers aren’t simply grinding away; they’re strategically mastering their networks while also implementing time-blocking techniques to maximize productivity. Let’s be real: networking can feel like a chore, but it’s an opportunity. Think of every conversation as a chance to learn, share, and connect. The right connection can pivot your career trajectory. You’ve got to approach networking not just as a transactional event but as a genuine interaction. Authenticity is key—people can smell a phony from a mile away. So, be yourself and forge meaningful relationships rather than superficial ties. Now, let’s talk TIME. It’s your most precious resource. High-achievers know how to allocate their hours like they’re investing in a stock portfolio. Enter the concept of time blocking. Instead of dipping your toes in a hundred different tasks, create specific blocks of time dedicated solely to networking. Schedule coffee chats, webinars, and even follow-up emails as non-negotiable parts of your calendar. When you align your networking efforts with time-blocking techniques, you carve out space for relationship building and professional growth. Focus is what sets the greats apart. Stop multitasking, and start maximizing your hours. It’s time to elevate your game! In a world overflowing with distractions, being strategic with who you spend your time with and how you allocate your precious hours can redefine your path to success. Dare to connect, engage, and invest in relationships while mindfully managing your time. #NetworkingMatters #TimeBlocking #HighAchieversMindset

#MotivationMonday: Networking ain't just lead gen 💼, it's relationship building! Human need to connect is real- embrace it & have fun! Ask us- are we 3 Stooges 😅 😄😜 of Stony Hill Advisors, Inc. or are we your ⚾ 3-4-5 ⚾ power hitters? The answer is we are both. Bryan Coble, Geoff Miller and I may have a different routine, but we all use humor as a secret weapon, and find that a smile, wit, and laughter are better than a business card. Think about this for a minute- how boring networking can be. Feel like a chore. Especially if you are dreading it, and so is everyone else. Why be robotic, when you get that anytime online? Who wants to be greeted with the dreaded "What do you do?" 🥴 Here's my answer to that question: "As little as possible." Or "I am just the driver for Mr. Miller." How about "Mr. Coble's bodyguard and trainer." Want a funny story, just ask me how I first met Roy Y. Salisbury after he gets done telling you he's my driver and bodyguard. 😉 Humor diffuses awkwardness and sparks genuine connection. Once that ice is broken however, we know when its time for business to take over. And now it is a real discussion, with people listening, sharing, and comprehending. Real conversation versus rehearsed script. That leads to deals getting done. Stony Hill Advisors, Inc. is part of the Small Business Development Group, Inc. (Stock Symbol: SBDG) portfolio.

Are you finding yourself caught in a whirlwind of relentless sales pitches every time you check your inbox? Despite your efforts to engage politely and expand your network, the majority of interactions seem to revolve around others attempting to sell you something. After conducting a thorough analysis of the time invested versus the outcomes yielded, it became clear that a significant portion of our valuable time is consumed by these interactions, with a staggering 99% of them being sales-focused. Rather than fostering genuine connections or facilitating meaningful exchanges of ideas, many of these interactions devolve into attempts to convince you that you're in dire need of whatever product or service they're peddling. Whether it's questioning your expertise or offering dubious incentives for your attention, the constant barrage of sales pitches can be overwhelming and counterproductive. In response to this pervasive issue, I see a need for a LinkedIn tag akin to "Open to work," signaling to others that you're not interested in purchasing anything, regardless of their persistence or persuasion tactics. This declaration serves as a boundary, asserting your commitment to meaningful discourse over relentless sales pitches. It's evident that the landscape of professional networking is heavily cluttered with opportunistic agendas, detracting from genuine engagement and mutual benefit. While maintaining an open mindset and willingness to connect remains important, establishing clear boundaries and signaling your intent can help reclaim your time and focus for more productive endeavors. What are your thoughts and experiences with managing sales-driven interactions in professional networking settings?

Market Research & Analysis| Sales Strategy & Execution| Customer Relationship Management| Digital Marketing Expertise| Client Engagement & Retention
Your Network is Your Net Worth! We’ve all heard this phrase, but do we really understand what it means? Whether we realize it or not, the people we surround ourselves with influence our decisions, behaviors, and even our success. Networking isn't just about exchanging business cards anymore but building relationships of value. This has been especially crucial in my sales and marketing career. When I attend events, I know I can’t connect with everyone, so I focus on a few key people I’d like to meet. I research about them beforehand to know something about their work, and this helps drive a more meaningful conversation. It is never about the quick pitch. I show genuine interest in who they are and what they do. This has made a world of difference for me because my best clients and referrals are borne from these personal, authentic connections. Here are five lessons I have learned about networking that are helping me in sales and marketing: 📌Be Intentional: In sales, just like in networking, you can’t target everyone. Know who you want to connect with and focus on them. 📌Bring Value: As a marketer, it's important to show potential clients what you can offer. The same applies in networking, people want to connect with those who have something valuable to add to them. 📌Genuine Relationships Matter: In both sales and networking, trust is key. Build authentic relationships rather than just aiming for a quick win. Networking has been a game changer for me as many of my clients have come through referrals because I’m seen as someone who adds value. I have grown in unimaginable ways. So, the next time you’re out to network, be intentional, offer value, and see the magic unfold. Share with me, in the comment section how networking has impacted your professional life. Let's grow and learn together. #SalesAndMarketing #Networking #ValueConnections #ClientRelationships #BusinessGrowth
