People don't buy Products. They join Tribes. An Example: — Before you buy the latest smartphone, deep inside your mind, you join the tribe of that brand's users. Today, the competition is NOT between: — Business vs. Business The competition is between: — Tribe 1 vs. Tribe 2 Let me now talk on behalf of a global buyer / procurement / purchasing managers of: ⚙️ Castings ⚙️ Forgings ⚙️ CNC machined Parts ⚙️ Stamping Components ⚙️ Plastic Parts The real competition is NOT between: — You (the supplier) vs. Other non-Indian suppliers. The real competition is between: — Your, pro-India buyer vs. other, not-pro-India buyer. The supplier's job is to make your buyer win. And, you can make your buyer win by: — Quality — On-time, in-full delivery — Transparency — Responsiveness — Following Safety and Compliances. An additional tip for you (if you like my post): If your buyer is excited to bring his management to your factory, you are doing good work. #suppliermanagement #Sheetmetal #Inox #CNCmilling #vendormanagement

7 years ago, I started explaining this to global manufacturers. Today, I run my own business. It is about a problem that overseas buyers face while sourcing from India. They come to India seeking a manufacturer but in the end, start buying from a supplier. ➡️ What is the difference? A manufacturer is the one who produces your products. A factory. It's simple! On the other hand, a supplier may or may not be a manufacturer (but a trader). However, on their website, company profile, and presentation to procurement managers, they describe themselves as suppliers. You shall find a lot of manufacturers in India. But even more suppliers (or traders). ➡️ My observation: Manufacturers tend to be slower in reaching out to clients. Suppliers are proactive in their outreach and luring customers. ➡️ A logical observation: The price from a supplier shall be higher than that from a manufacturer. ➡️ In summary: — you shall have the best price from a manufacturer. — When dealing with a manufacturer, you will have control over the production schedule and quality. Therefore it is logical that you source directly from the manufacturer. ➡️ How can you judge if your new contact is a manufacturer or supplier? Well, the only way to identify is to visit the site. And, here are your options to do this. — Travel to India: This will cost you around $2500 and 4 days. — Hire a person in India: A long-term commitment that can be quite costly. — hire a third party for Factory Audit: Companies like ours can verify the authenticity of manufacturers, saving you time and money. It's low-cost, quick and fact-based. ➡️ In summary: Small and medium-sized OEMs from the USA, UK, Europe, Australia, and other regions, when you plan to source mechanical components from India, such as: — Castings — Forgings — Sheet Metal Stamping Components — CNC machined parts — Fasteners or Fabrication assemblies — Plastic Injection Mounded parts Do you seek a supplier or a manufacturer? #procurement #purchasing #vendor #supplier

It's about a Procurement Manager who sources: — Castings; — Forgings; — Stamping and Fabrication assemblies; — CNC machining components. He, the component buyer, is answerable to: — the quality manager; — the design manager; — the production manager. When: — the purchased products are custom designed and; — the suppliers are exclusive; Buyers spend too much time in: — Ensuring deliveries; — Chasing suppliers and; — Follow-ups & issues resolution. On the other side, the buyer should spend his time in: — long-term system development; — Spend management and; — supplier prospecting. Too many expectations, too little in control. Are we talking to a procurement professional or a super-human? #vendor #supplier #globalsourcing #suppliermanagement

𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘤𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘴 𝘴𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘤𝘬 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯. There are a lot of challenges to resourcing direct materials, so many buyers don’t cultivate alternative suppliers. This is a huge mistake. No competitive pressure = higher costs. We’ve seen it over and over again. Challenges to resourcing include things like: · Extensive/costly testing of new materials or supplier · Lengthy customer approval process · Not easy to find suppliers that are a cultural fit with your company · Your components require specialized capabilities not all suppliers have The process story is, 1. Buyers look at a category, sees one or more of these challenges, 2. Buyer gives up. The trick is to dig one step deeper and segment the spend into sub-categories. We find actionable sub-categories with enough spend to make it worthwhile 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲. Here’s an example: A company had a $36M injection molding spend. They segmented the spend into 4 groups: 1. Grained Class A - $20M 2. Functional black plastic - $6M 3. Assemblies - $5M 4. Painted parts - $5M ❌ Grained Class A parts require lengthy customer approvals ✅ Functional black plastic parts – no challenges! ❌ Assemblies require extensive testing ❌ Painted parts of difficult quality requirements most suppliers can’t meet There is a $6M segment that is ripe for introducing competitive pressure. My experience is, there’s $200k+ savings possible in this type of opportunity. To identify quick savings on direct materials, look for segments that lack competitive pressure and don’t have any big challenges to resourcing. Are you a manufacturing leader that needs to implement savings starting in 2024? DM me to discuss if you might have untapped opportunities to implement $200k - $500k savings in as little as 14 weeks (with fees based on savings achieved). #CostReduction #Sourcing #Procurement

Our October 2024 Production Times Are Now Live! Please see below for the full report ⬇️ Over the past month, we've seen a slight improvement in our production times, with the average order completion time decreasing to 53.6 days from 54.1 days. The only significant change occurred in the National Silicone Foam line, where a faster factory turnaround led to a 5-day reduction. Production times for our other product lines have remained consistent. As of October 2024, China's official Manufacturing PMI for larger state-owned enterprises has risen to 50.2, signaling a return to expansion after several months of contraction. This slight improvement in manufacturing activity, driven by stronger domestic orders, reflects some stabilization in the sector, despite ongoing weakness in export demand. Meanwhile, the Caixin Manufacturing PMI, which focuses on smaller, export-reliant firms, has dipped to 49.5, marking the first contraction in three months. While challenges like reduced demand and weaker exports persist, signs of recovery in domestic production suggest that overall manufacturing conditions are gradually improving, setting the stage for potential growth in the coming months. ➖ ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ Our October 2024 production times measure the change in days an average order will take to produce from the time it is submitted (all facilities). This includes the time it takes to book a container, which currently stands at an average of 10.5 days. However, it excludes ocean shipping and other transit times. Approximate transit times (including estimated time the ship will wait at the port before it is unloaded) are: East Coast: 35-45 days West Coast: 20-30 days October 2024 Production Times: Premlene - Sheet Rubber: 50-55 Days - Eng. Structures: 60-65 Days National Silicone - Solid: 40-45 Days - Sponge: 35-40 Days - Foam: 35-40 Days Rubatex - Sponge: 65-70 Days GCP Sourced - Molded Parts: 65-70 Days - Clamps/Fittings: 60-65 Days - UHMW-PE Sheet: 50-55 Days #GCPSourced #IndustrialProducts #ProductionUpdate #BusinessResilience #SupplyChainManagement #ManufacturingExcellence #ProductionTimes #LatestUpdate #SupplyChainManagement #SheetRubber #Commodity #Products #Manufacturing #Industrial #Innovation #Industry #Manufacturers #GlobalSupply #Sourcing #GCPIndustrialProducts #IndustrialSupply #Silicone #Rubber #NationalSilicone #Premlene #Rubatex

Trusting a Supplier commitment for Timely Deliveries In today's dynamic Supply Chain landscape, a notable trend emerges where Suppliers from India and China attract European and USA Customers with competitive pricing, often excluding tooling costs from their quotes. However, a significant challenge arises when these Suppliers falter in meeting their delivery promises. This inconsistency not only impacts Procurement Managers striving to maintain optimal Plant and Warehouse stocks but also directly influences the overall customer experience. The importance of meticulous oversight on Suppliers' delivery commitments cannot be understated. Navigating the complexities of the Supply Chain demands a hands-on approach, especially for customers unable to physically verify the status of components at the Suppliers' facilities. The adage "seeing is believing" rings true, emphasizing the necessity of on-site presence for accurate assessment and assurance. For those seeking reliable sourcing partnerships in India, we offer our expertise and on-ground support to enhance your Supply Chain efficiency.
