I met a flight nurse this past weekend. He shared what he does for a living, and I was inspired by his stories. What he shared opened my eyes to the EMS and frontline care needed in our society. Flying a person in cardiac arrest or seizure from a farm to a hospital is one traumatic experience, yet these flight nurses tackle it every day and week. Curiously, I asked, "are you able to communicate quickly, in real time, with the nurses and ER doc. at a local hospital?" He said, sometimes yes, and other times no. It depends on their communication systems. 💡 Communication is key. What if updated technology could bridge these time delays? If you have a reliable, robust on-call schedule and secure messaging system in place, it could reduce door to ballon time, as minutes matter in these situations. Or what if you need to know what medication they can or cannot take? There's a neat company called Universal Medical Data that has ID tags for this, where you can use a computer USB to pull up their info. quickly, no matter what EHR system the local hospital is using. But if a patient isn't wearing one of these, it can be a guessing game for the emergency responders. A more efficient way: Using the right messaging system, the clinical staff could quickly find who is on call while the flight nurse gets a simple reading. They could then send the attached reading via a secure message to the hospital. This equips the ER location, in advance, to address comorbidities, beds, and more before the patient arrives and gets admitted. I'm not a licensed clinician, but the more I listen to medical workers, I see a recurring breakdown in our healthcare system: A communication gap. If you want to fix your communication gaps, I recommend you check out PerfectServe. It might be a system-wide, viable solution for your medical practice or healthcare ecosystem. #medical #clinicalcommunication #flightnurse

All too often, "allied" positions are looked upon as lower level (than Nursing, for example). Technicians and technologists are some of the most important members of the healthcare team. Diagnositics often determine outcomes, and advanced imaging requires knowledge and skill. The market is flooded with "allied" jobs, and this only reinforces how invaluable these clinicians are. #ContingentWorkforce #Allied #Staffing
