International Food Day is one of the best events in my Culture Calendar. It's simple; just ask your team to bring in a dish (homemade or bought) with cultural significance to them & share it with the team. Since being introduced to this event, I have celebrated in every role I've had and it is always the most successful. This event is a great way to showcase the unique and diverse backgrounds of your team members. It allows everyone to share a part of their culture and learn about others in a fun and engaging way. Plus, who doesn't love trying new foods? So get your team together and celebrate the diversity that makes us all so great. Right away in season one we see Carmy correct the staff when speaking to him: “Say, ‘yes, Chef.’” In turn he calls everyone on the raggedy team at the sandwich shop “Chef”: “It’s a show of respect,” he explains. The effect is instant and unmistakable; Marcus smiles privately and dives into his pastry work. Tina doubles down on the vegetables and positively glows. Takeaway: respect matters. 🍝🥖 There's a tale behind every meal, and sometimes it's more dramatic than you'd expect! A while back, I found myself at an older lady's house for lasagna. As she handed me packaged frozen bread, a tub of margarine, and garlic salt for the garlic bread, I couldn't help but RECOIL. Call me a food snob, but authenticity matters to me. Real butter, pressed garlic, sea salt, and fresh parsley— that's my garlic bread game. No shortcuts, no imitations. But this culinary incident got me pondering deeper. Just as I crave real, authentic food, I crave genuine connections with people. In both personal and professional realms, authenticity reigns supreme. Relationships built on love, respect, and a true understanding are the ones that sustain and fulfill us. At work, I've been fortunate to encounter some remarkable individuals. They're not just colleagues; they're collaborators, invested in mutual success. Together, we're reshaping the workplace narrative—no longer a battleground of egos, but a fertile ground for collaboration and growth. Gone are the days of cutthroat competition. Instead, there's a rising tide of cooperation, where authenticity and inclusivity take center stage. Those who make it all about themselves are finding themselves sidelined.
