SATURDAY MORNING (AUGUST 24TH) at 9:30 AM our amazing Who I Am Foundation volunteers in #Albuquerque will be having our next Community Clean-Up (ABQ)! LOCATION TO BE DETERMINED. WE ARE OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS! Youth participation is strongly encouraged, so children are welcome to join! NO OPEN-TOED SHOES Cleaning up loose trash is one of the best ways to pitch in for your community and the environment. None of us like the sight of litter. Litter spoils the look of where we live but that’s not the only reason for picking up litter. There are a number of benefits from picking up litter that you may not have considered before. Volunteer-led projects such as these are one of the quickest, simplest, and least expensive ways to inspire more community spirit and civic action. A visually appealing community increases property values, attracts businesses, and improves the neighborhood's image. Beauty is one of the three most influential factors in community attachment, which means loyalty, to your particular town or city. For this Community Clean-Up our volunteers will be meeting up at and cleaning Los Altos Park, located at 10100 Lomas Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112 (Meet-Up will be in the parking lot off Eubank next to Sonic) Youth participation is strongly encouraged, so children are welcome to join! Volunteering as a means to help conserve and protect the environment has a lot of upsides. Of course, the first is that you’ll be taking care of our planet, and it badly needs a little love given the myriad ways in which we’ve become adept at destroying it. But beyond that, volunteering for a cause you care about is a great way to meet like-minded people, make friends, and pull yourself out of the blues that sometimes accompany caring a lot about something important – especially if you feel alone in your endeavors. Day 11 of a #sharednarrative for #Plymouth: This can all feel overwhelming, even hopeless. How can we hold hope together? Overwhelmed. Disempowered. Scared. Angered. Denial. All these reactions can come up when facing such intense, unpredictable problems and violence with a perceived lack of tested solutions or necessary effort to try them – and are a part of why we have not managed to course-correct quickly and effectively enough. The5 with Eric Moraczewski welcomes Kyle Ogden, President & CEO of The Thanks-Giving Foundation.  Kyle joins The5 to talk about Building a Profoundly #Caring Community.  Something most, if not all, nonprofits are focused on but maybe aren't always aware of.  Kyle talks about being intentional with gratitude and caring, as well as the Foundation's five key functions of Building a Profoundly Caring Community. Kyle became the President and CEO of The Thanks-Giving Foundation because he wanted to do something important in the bigger civic context, and build something sustainable for the citizens of Dallas. The Thanks-Giving Foundation is a platform that can influence the future of the community, and he believes his contribution of time, effort and resources can make a real difference as an accelerant of positive change. The physical and programmatic enhancements made are being noticed, and he is proud that the vision will deliver a place of importance within the nonprofit landscape. Before joining The Thanks-Giving Foundation, Kyle was the Chairman, President and CEO of Carroll Company. Kyle received a Bachelor of Business Administrations degree in honors business and a Master of Business Administration degree in accounting and finance from the University of Texas at Austin, and went on to earn his CPA license. In his spare time, he enjoy golf, baseball and travel.
