This is how you create a social media marketing power team.
How would I build my ideal social media department? I'm glad you asked. Here are my immediate hires: → Video Creator: Short Video Specialist → Producer: Content Curator → Analyst: Performance Analyst → Performance: Ads Specialist → Community Manager: Engager → Social Support: Customer Support → Campaign: influencer, creator work → Employee Advocacy: Brand Promoter → Director: Strategy And the sprinkle on top would be to have dedicated platform specialists who know each channel like the back of their hand. But I guess the popular route is rolling it all into the single title of Social Media Manager, so whatever.

A marketer's greatest ally: Teammates who champion the brand publicly 🤝 Being a marketer at a start-up can be difficult... you're in charge of trying to build a brand and a following (and usually a whole lot more) I've been running social at Optimus Technologies, Inc. for a few months now, and let me tell you why they're the best: Members of their team from sales to engineering, the executives and partners... are constantly liking, sharing and reposting the company content I'm pushing out And as a result, we have had quick growth and a whole lot more eyes on the company So, if you are wondering how you can support your coworkers over in marketing? ✨Interact with what they’re posting✨ Because no matter how big your following is, driving more exposure to your company’s content, helps everyone win! p.s. optimus is hiring, if you're in Pittsburgh, check out their openings! #team #marketing #socialemediamarketing #hiring

49 days into the job and this is my first hire 😊 Hiring in your first 60 days as a new CMO might sound like a hiring frenzy, but it is not. Here's the process I followed: ✅ Chatted with all team members to see if their roles felt right for them (and if I agreed). ✅ Skills gap analysis: figured out what skillsets we lacked, keeping our overall strategy in mind. ✅ Prioritizing needs: what do we need to source like NOW. And the winner is... content marketing. In my opinion, content creation can't be outsourced effectively. It needs a dedicated, in-house champion who's close to the business. So, that's who we are looking for now, a great team member who could join a team of not just smart but kind and funny people Isabella Dodkins Anne Aarhus Wildenschild Maria Lorente Grim Båtelson Höjer Timothy Lundgren ✨ Link to the job in comments.

I’ll teach you what to say in spots like this. Go Viral on TikTok (and everywhere else). Values-Led Marketing. Member of THE BOARD.
How would you phrase this hiring request? I want to add someone to my team who WANTS to be the “other projects as assigned” person. Who-when I have some kooky idea about social-wants to chase it meticulously and report back. Who thinks organizing mass amounts of content to be mined, researching selling on Pinterest, and filming a piece of content for a brand are equally as interesting. How should I phrase and look for that?

As a social media manager, my goal is to create content that not only grabs attention but also encourages engagement and thoughtful reading. Let's take a moment to slow down, read the full story, and engage with content meaningfully. What’s the most surprising or interesting thing you’ve discovered by reading something all the way through? Chief Marketing Officer • Organic, Influencer & Upper-Funnel Strategist • 2023 AdAge Marketing Trailblazer • Digiday, The Drum, Shorty & Webby Winner
I don't share often on the results of my consultancy work but feel like it's important to show proof that my contributions aren't theoretical :) I've been working with TikTok-obsessed and mom-loved brand Bogg Bag since February with May being the first month we launched a full and reimagined upper-funnel marketing, organic social, influencer and content creation strategy. If you live in the south or a coastal city it would be IMPOSSIBLE to not see these bags being lugged around by moms at the beach, pool or around town. These are performance numbers that you see brands with 1M+ followers struggling to achieve. While followers is a vanity metric (that we all know), these stats truly show the importance of investing in content and content teams / creators. Also a big shoutout to Laurence Mobio who has been working double time as a community engagement / social coordinator to engage and delight our audience on a daily basis; another critical role missing from most social teams. P.S. We are hiring and growing the social / influencer team in NY/NJ. Be on the lookout for some job postings soon :-).
