Designing for people. The Landscape of Inclusivity, National University of Singapore Landscape Architecture Year 2 Studio envisions in designing to include the vulnerable of the community in Queenstown, Singapore. The purpose is to highlight the need to design the city for our most vulnerable dwellers, but also vouching that such a paradigm shift has created greater inclusivity and in turn, a better environment for everyone. This is achieved by integrating ecology, infrastructure and social space to strategically poised to augment the health of the environment and the people symbiotically. How can we develop urban spaces while protecting #biodiversity? 🌱 That was a central question when Danish Architecture Center (Dansk Arkitektur Center) hosted a debate meeting last week. The meeting was a part of the project Desire an Irresistible Circular Society, where we aim to create a #sustainable, #circular, and #inclusive campus in Biotekbyen - the Biotech City, Kalundborg together with the Royal Danish Academy. For cities to contribute to biodiversity, the focus needs to be on: ♻ Sustainable construction practices 📉 Lowering the individual citizen’s spending pattern 🏗 Not building in green areas but transforming existing buildings and building areas #biodiversitymatters in all municipalities – including Kalundborg, where the peninsula Røsnæs is a great example of the way in which protected nature can develop into a unique natural resort – for the benefit of the citizens and the climate 🍀 Thank you for interesting presentations and fruitful discussions. Kalundborg - rethink the city valuing key principles of movement, belonging and aesthetics. The city is practising the New European Bauhaus through citizens engagement processes - nothing is defined yet, most is open for explorations, but learnings emerge and will most likely be incorporated in how the city evolves and perceives of itself. As such, Kalundborg is one of the core pilots in Desire an Irresistible Circular Society - and a pilot that hopefully will keep its pilot character of being curious to new ways of collaborating and exploring. With 20 seats available, this program offers a rigorous exploration of the relationships between urban form, socio-economic productivity, and the preservation of cultural heritage.
