Day 1 Service Saturday✨ Title: "The Power of Service: Making a Difference, One Act at a Time" In a fast-paced world, service stands out as a beacon of hope—a simple yet profound way to make a positive impact. Whether it's lending a helping hand to a neighbor, volunteering at a local charity, or participating in a community clean-up, acts of service have the power to transform lives and strengthen communities. Service is more than just a gesture; it's a reflection of our shared humanity and our commitment to making the world a better place. By giving of ourselves to benefit others, we not only address pressing needs but also foster connections, build relationships, and create a sense of belonging within our communities. Moreover, service is a catalyst for personal growth and fulfillment. Through acts of service, we discover our strengths, develop new skills, and find purpose in making a positive difference in the lives of others. Whether it's through volunteering, mentoring, or advocating for a cause, service empowers us to become agents of change and to leave a lasting impact on the world around us. In essence, service is a simple yet powerful way to make a difference, one act at a time. As we embrace the spirit of service in our daily lives, let us remember that even the smallest gesture can have a ripple effect, spreading kindness, compassion, and hope to those in need. Together, let us harness the power of service to create a brighter, more inclusive, and more compassionate world for all.

Last Friday was a day of service at our foundation’s D.C. office, and it was great to join so many of my colleagues volunteering at N Street Village, a local shelter for homeless women. For me, it was a chance to experience the two-way benefits of generosity: growing in heart and mind through helping others. In my work at the foundation, I encounter and am inspired by changemakers and those who engage in acts of generosity every day. Here in the U.S., giving and volunteering to nonprofits has long been the backbone of philanthropy. That phenomenon is changing in important ways: giving and volunteering to 501c3 organizations is down, while new modes of generosity are on the rise: crowdfunding, direct person-to-person donations, along with the rise of political activism. The just-released The Generosity Commission’s 2024 report, which our foundation supported, takes a look at these trends and seeks to understand their implications. It not only probes possible factors driving the decline, such as economic inequality, declining religiosity and changes in tax policy, but also sheds light on innovations in giving, on how generosity in America is being reshaped, and ways to promote giving in all its forms. I urge all to read the report and take a beat: consider what each of us can do to grow generosity in our spheres. We know we can’t achieve our goals for better lives and livelihoods alone, but we can make great strides in partnership with others. Today, I am honored to share a body of research, The Generosity Commission Report, a vital piece of research that explores the evolving landscape of giving and volunteering in America. The report highlights a concerning trend: while total donations and hours volunteered have risen, fewer people are participating in giving and volunteering. This matters deeply. Generosity is not just about money or time—it's about #connection. It binds us together. It bridges gaps, fosters civic engagement, and builds a sense of community in an increasingly isolated world. This report is not just a reflection on decline—it is a call to action. It encourages us to expand our understanding of philanthropy beyond traditional forms of giving and to embrace the diverse ways people contribute today, whether through mutual aid, giving circles, or digital platforms. The spirit of generosity is evolving, and we must evolve with it. I invite you to download the Generosity Commission Report today. It includes recommendations on research, culture, practices and policies centered around engaging the everyday donor and increasing volunteering. Let’s use it as a blueprint to broaden our approach to generosity and spark new ways to engage. Together, we can build a future where everyone feels empowered to give and make a difference. https://lnkd.in/gb6u4HJc #GenerosityMatters #CivicEngagement #TheGenerosityCommission #ExpandPhilanthropy

🌟 CSR is crucial, yet often overlooked in smaller businesses 🌟 I get it - we're all strapped for time, and often being forced to balance rising costs while striving for and creating success. But, CSR has huge internal impacts - whether it's fostering positivity in your people, creating teamwork and collaboration towards a common cause, or local impact through community initiatives - the payback is immense 🙌. Getting involved in local charity efforts not only strengthens our teams but also leaves a lasting mark on the communities we serve. For three years straight, my team has stood by Herts Young Homeless. Through initiatives such as Future Roots Volunteering, supporting charitable events, or hosting our own, we've been on a mission. Proudly, our efforts have raised over £10,000 to support their vital services. 🤝 Preventing homelessness and assisting underprivileged 16-25 year olds in Hertfordshire hits close to home for us. This year, we're switching it up with a challenge: tackling the Watkin path to the top of Snowden. It's the closest you can get from sea level to the summit and involves a gruelling kilometre of climbing. Over the next 7 weeks, I'll be sharing insights into our CSR journey at Bar2, and some of my thoughts on the benefits for my team. Join us as we climb higher and make a difference. 💼 Link to donate in the comments! 👇

Recently, Form Follows Studio connected with a networking collective that required a $1,000 onboarding fee for us to join. While we recognize the value of network leaders in fostering community connections, we couldn’t help but feel that this initial fee (on top of monthly dues) could be better spent directly supporting those who are making the most impact in our city. So, instead of joining, we’ve decided to invest that $1,000 into some of the most impactful organizations and individuals right here in North Texas. North Texas Giving Day can feel like a tough ask, especially when so many of us work tirelessly for far less than we deserve. At Form Follows, we’re constantly helping our clients streamline their overhead to maximize impact, so we’re taking our own advice this quarter. We’re redirecting our operational costs into donations for the following organizations: North Texas Giving Day Participants: Deep Vellum Publishing DOWNWINDERS AT RISK EDUCATION FUND Philanthropy for Kids Child Poverty Action Lab (CPAL) Non-NTXGD Participants That Deserve Our Support (We’re also donating our time to these incredible groups): 4DWN Dallas For Change Take Care Health and Wellness United People’s Coalition City Departments We’re Collaborating With, Despite Facing Budget Cuts: Integrated Public Safety Department At Form Follows, we believe that meaningful change comes from investing directly in the people and organizations creating real impact. By pouring resources into those who need it most, we’re reinforcing our commitment to strengthening our community.
