Re-Cycle and Re-purpose! 🔄 Embracing the Circular Economy in Construction Asset Management! 🏗️ At TraderJacks, we're proud to champion a circular economy approach to construction site asset management. In today's fast-paced world, it's imperative to rethink traditional models and embrace sustainable practices that promote resource efficiency and look minimise waste. 🔁 Redefining Waste: Instead of viewing construction site assets as disposable at project completion, we see them as valuable resources with the potential for multiple lifecycles. Through careful planning and innovative strategies, we aim to maximise these assets while minimising their environmental impact. 🔄 Repurposing & Reusing: One of the core principles of the circular economy is extending the lifespan of products and materials. We're committed to identifying opportunities for repurposing and reusing construction assets wherever possible. Whether it's refurbishing equipment, salvaging materials, or repurposing structures, we strive to give these assets a second life. 🔄 Recycling & Recovery: When assets reach the end of their useful life, responsible recycling and recovery become essential. We work closely with recycling facilities and waste management partners to ensure that materials are properly sorted, processed, and diverted from landfills. By closing the loop through recycling, we contribute to the conservation of natural resources and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. 🔄 Collaborative Partnerships: Implementing a circular economy approach requires collaboration across the construction ecosystem. We actively engage with suppliers, subcontractors, clients, and industry partners to promote sustainable practices and drive innovation. Together, we're reshaping the future of construction towards a more regenerative and resilient built environment. Join us in embracing the circular economy revolution in construction asset management! Let's work together to build a more sustainable, resource-efficient future for generations to come. #CircularEconomy #Construction #Sustainability #ResourceEfficiency #WasteReduction 🔄🌱🏗️

🏢 The modern portfolio: Integrating sustainability into property asset management According to the UK Green Building Council (UKGBC), the built environment contributes around 40% of the UK’s total greenhouse gas emissions. Sustainability in the built environment has never been more important and improving the sustainability credentials of your portfolio can deliver significant benefits – from protecting the planet, to delivering potential energy cost savings, all whilst enhancing tenant satisfaction. But what role do property managers have in delivering sustainable commercial property, what is a green lease and what are their benefits? Diana Southwell, a Surveyor in our Property Asset Management Team, explores ⬇️. Supporting real estate clients deliver ESG impact and Net Zero carbon (Pre Acquisition Surveys, Net Zero Asset Plans, ESG led project delivery, whole life carbon)
Whilst applying green certifications to projects is an easy way to demonstrate positive ESG steps are being taken, this can be a process heavy and costly approach which misses client specific focus areas. Getting stuck in to the detail and driving key performance targets beyond statutory compliance and business as usual, can offer more tangible results that can be followed through to post occupancy monitoring and targeting, thereby demonstrating true ESG value relative to individual projects. As we all become more versed in ESG language and metrics, the use of simplified targets such as 'energy intensity' and 'embodied carbon' should mean we can lose confusing and complex reports and focus on actionable insight. #WorkmanESG #NetZero
How can project teams ensure their #ESG strategies are on track, and achieve a positive commercial impact? Led by our Hedley Jones, Partner and Head of ESG Refurbishment and Development, the Workman ESG Project Advisor team delivers precisely this knowledge and expertise. Green blends with grey at the The Institute of Asset Management . My project on the Urban Forest as Critical Infrastructure, showcasing the Urban Forest Portfolio (the dashboard developed during my graduation project for i-Tree 2.0-NL), was honored with both the national and international IAM Awards 2023! Thanks to the Institute for sharing the story and Louise Parfitt for penning it down https://lnkd.in/e9kPsxTe. A story about being a newcomer to the concept of asset management and infusing this sector, currently dominated by grey infrastructure practice and perspective, with ideas developed in the green sector. About raising awareness of an asset that grows in value over time, rather than depreciating, and is one of the most important solutions to keeping our cities livable and climate-resilient. And finally a story about integrating the urban forest life-cycle into planning, maintenance and design to manage our green assets for the long term. Hopefully, this cross-domain encounter will be one of many to come: we need an integral perspective to turn the current battle for space into a symbiosis. To shift terms from discrete greys, reds, blues and greens to gradients. Here's to more 'blends' - in every sense of the word.

LEEDing or being LED Sustainability in Operations and Asset Management (OAM) Once assets are handed over to the Operations and Asset Management (OAM) or Facilities Management (FM) team, the focus must shift to maintaining the sustainable environment established by the design and construction team. By emphasizing performance-oriented sustainable strategies and outcomes, we can assist in building high-performance assets that meet both current and future needs. It’s important to recognize that it can take up to 80 years to offset the impacts of demolishing an existing building and constructing a new one, even if the new building is extremely energy-efficient. Many older buildings, while they may be inefficient and resource-depleting, can be significantly improved with careful attention to building operations and management practices. To enhance our sustainability efforts, we must shift from a mindset focused on documentation for documentation's sake to one centered on using data for documentation. This approach allows us to track and measure performance across several key areas, including: Energy Consumption:** Monitoring and reducing energy use through efficient practices and technologies. Water Management:** Implementing strategies to conserve water and enhance efficiency. Waste Management:** Tracking waste generation and recycling efforts to minimize landfill impact. Transportation:** Evaluating and reducing the carbon footprint associated with transportation modes for staff and deliveries. By focusing on these critical areas and leveraging data-driven insights, we can create a more sustainable and efficient operating environment that aligns with our long-term performance goals
