Had a fantastic conversation with Stephen Platten recently about the significant efficiency boost that comes with self-sufficient QA. 💡 In our convo, we defined self-sufficient QA as individuals or teams within a QA department who possess the skills and resources necessary to independently carry out their testing tasks without heavy reliance on external support. This includes setting up test environments, reviewing documentation, managing databases, utilizing version control, automating tests, and analyzing test coverage. Organizations with self-sufficient QA benefit from: 1. Accelerated Time-to-Market: Self-sufficient QAs can rapidly set up and execute tests, reducing bottlenecks and ensuring faster feedback loops. 2. Elevated Product Quality: With a comprehensive understanding of the product and its requirements, self-sufficient QAs can design and execute more thorough tests, leading to higher quality releases. 3. Optimized Resource Allocation: By handling a wider range of tasks, self-sufficient QAs free up developers and other team members to focus on their core competencies. 4. Enhanced Team Morale: Empowering QAs with autonomy and ownership fosters a sense of pride and responsibility, leading to increased job satisfaction and improved team dynamics. The main inhibitors preventing companies from adopting self-sufficient QA include: 1. Underestimating QA's Technical Prowess: Some organizations may underestimate the technical capabilities of their QA teams, hindering their potential to take on more complex tasks. 2. Siloed Knowledge and Limited Cross-Training: If knowledge is concentrated within specific individuals or teams, it can create bottlenecks and hinder the development of a self-sufficient QA culture. 3. Resistance to Change and Perceived Risk: Some stakeholders may be hesitant to embrace change or perceive self-sufficient QA as a risky endeavor, requiring a shift in mindset and effective communication. 4. Inadequate Tooling and Infrastructure: A lack of access to appropriate tools and infrastructure can limit the ability of QA team Does your company have self-sufficient QA? If not, what steps could be taken to move in that direction? #QA #QualityAssurance #SoftwareTesting #SoftwareDevelopment #Automation #Efficiency #SelfSufficientQA

Client's feedback is hard to test after implantation, sometimes. There could be multiple reasons: 1. QAs do not involve in client's meeting 2. QA just get the build from dev and requirements told by the dev, not by the PM or BA 3. Not prioritizing the client's feedback. Mention in comments what I missed! #sqa #testing #clientmeetings #feedback
