The #OlympicGames are in full swing in #Paris, the fun is delightful despite a few highly emphasized wrinkles and hiccups. The Olympic Village is getting a lot of notice in the American Press, notably all the shortcomings and aggressive eco measures are getting blown out of proportion, so we decided on producing a subset of Olympic Posters highlighting The Olympic Village Life. We already uploaded one poster at our Paris Olympics Revue Part II depicting a single cardboard bed and electric fan cooling. We also produced a new poster showing off the Arcade Hall, how it could have been styled while keeping with a few touches showcased during the Tokyo 2020 Games. 😮 Why is the athletics track at the Stade de France purple for the Paris Olympics Games 2024? Reason 1️⃣: Camille Yvinec, director of brand identity for Paris 2024, said her teams had worked on the colour palette for two years. Ultimately, they picked purple for the Stade de France track as a reference to the lavender fields of the south of France, where cities such as Nice and Marseille are hosting some Olympic events. The purple track is meant to turn heads and leave an imprint in the historical record: That was in Paris. The color, organizers boast, was never seen before for an athletics track. Reason 2️⃣: To make history by making this the first competition to be held on a track of this purple colour. This will allow the images of the Paris 2024 Games to be engraved in the memories of spectators, television viewers and athletes alike", explained a press release, while the Italian firm Mondo was commissioned to produce the 13,000 m² track. Reason 3️⃣: Purple for better television coverage and an impactful viewer experience! More specifically, two shades of purple (a lighter one for the track and competition areas themselves, and a darker one for the technical areas) have been used to colour the facilities at the Stade de France. I can't overstate how ingenious the Paris Opening Ceremonies were in terms of reimagining the games for the next generation, updated to reflect how we consume media in 2024. I cite this example from Louis Vuitton (5 million YouTube followers), which was one of many pre-recorded segments stitched throughout the broadcast. This entertaining clip has now been repurposed online as part of the marketing for the luxury goods brand. I also saw that Lady Gaga has taken her segment and posted it to her social channels (24 million YouTube followers alone). And remember, we're on Day 4, and people are still watching and rewatching portions of the Opening Ceremonies. Delightful example of design for this round of Olympics with the use of Pictograms. Each sport has its own coat of arms that must have each of three criteria: a depiction of the action, a depiction of the playing field, and an axis of symmetry. j'ai adoré la cérémonie olympique  If you follow my posts, you know that I love organized sports. As a young child I had a mild case of measles, and I was bed ridden for a few weeks. That was during the 1976 Montreal Olympics, and I watched the whole event from beginning to end. Obviously, you know what I was doing last night. I simply adore how the world competes every four years in all kinds of sports that frankly, I do not watch at any other time…breakdancing? Last night’s ceremony was masterful. #ThomasJolly is the artistic director and what an arts masterpiece last night was. For a decade I have embraced creativity, doing things differently, changing paradigms, busting established business models and creating new realities. The Opening Ceremonies in Paris were unforgettable. Jolly eliminated a framework in place through the modern Olympics since 1896: ceremony in a stadium. Why not use the ENTIRE city as the stadium? Isn’t this more accurate as much of the competition takes place in venues other than the Olympic stadium? And how about Fiji as the “venue” for surfing. Brillante/brilliant!  Why have the Olympic flame be terrestrial when it can be celestial? Why not float instead of marching? Mon Dieu!!! As a public sector administrator, I admire when “What If’s” become operational and when the execution works. I admire taking risks. Imagine what the first visioning sessions must have been like: but we have always used the stadium, but we have always marched, but Olympic flame has always been on the ground, but, but, but. #ThomasJolly the Force is Indeed Strong. Merci.

The Igniting Imagination: Reflecting Global Olympic Dreams One Sydney night, we stood at the edge of Darling Harbour, admiring the city lights reflected in the glossy water. Our design firm, FHA, had designed the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games symbol. Now, we needed to create the "look & feel" that would unify all expressions of the Games. In moments of uncertainty, the sacred source of imagination guides us and turns the impossible into the possible. Like a spark in the dark, an idea began to form in our minds: the Olympic rings reflected in the blue waters of the Harbour. We named it “Fluid Energy”. This creative vision of the rings bridging the gap between the intangible and the tangible became the unifying image for the Sydney Games and a valuable brand asset. As Paris prepares to host the 2024 Olympic Games, we are reminded that the Olympics are more than just sport and achievement. Countless organizations and people work together to bring the Games to life on a global stage as a gathering of peaceful humanity. Their cultural ambitions, commitment to goodwill, and ambitions to deliver the best possible outcomes for athletes, and their city are united for every Games under one unique symbol: the five inspiring rings of the Olympic emblem. #Paris2024OlympicGames #Sydney2000OlympicGames #BrandAustralia

Wow. Now that is a beautiful building. With the 2024 Paris Olympics around the corner, news about the Games is filling up my feed. Over the coming weeks, I want to share some Olympics observations from the perspective of someone who, 1. works in the purpose world (shout out Given) and 2. loves sport (shout out to my parents). I'll be sharing my medal-worthy highlights, and some controversial decisions... First up, let's start with a positive: the Grand Palais' breathtaking restoration 💚 In a few short days, the Grand Palais will host fencing and taekwondo in this beautifully restored glass-roofed atrium. Aside from it being a work of art, what I love about the Grand Palais is that it represents one of many buildings around Paris getting a new lease of life. Many Olympic cities before have created enormous new stadiums to host the Games, putting huge strain on the planet in the process. It's refreshing to see Paris repairing and reusing its spaces, rather than starting from scratch. Paris 2024 Olympic Games claim to have sold over 9.7 million tickets, breaking the record for the most number of tickets sold in history. https://lnkd.in/dq8CBTA5 Yet, many seats are empty and tickets are still available, especially on the official resale platform. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙞𝙨𝙨𝙪𝙚? ◆ Early buyers were forced into "3-sport bundle" purchase which meant many (including me) accepting to buy "tertiary" events in order to get the tickets I wanted. ◆ It looks like 3149 other buyers were forced to buy tickets for the 3rd day of invidividual Women's stroke play. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙤𝙬𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚?  ➢ the fixed price on the platform means that price can not be ajusted to let other people enjoy the games ➢ buyers are forced to third-party websites to try to resell my tickets with more visibility and flexibility ➢ fans are frustrated that tickets are unavailable or too expensive ➢ athletes might have to compete in front of (not-so-full) arenas or crowds. ➨Should Paris2024 really be proud of this ticket-selling record or shall it try to fix the issue before the end of the Olympics?
