RJC Calgary is all smiles while fixing up a tasty, Greek-style dinner at their local Ronald McDonald House. 👩🍳 🇬🇷
Prepping a meal after a long day at the hospital can be stressful. With support from volunteers, Ronald McDonald House Charities take away this stress for families.
🛒 🥗 🧆 As part of the Home for Dinner program, Team Calgary went on a grocery haul & cooked up a flavourful dinner for families staying at the House.
The Calgary Corporate Challenge is on! 🙌 Home for Dinner is just one of many team-building activities our Calgary office will tackle as they compete for a big win in the 2024 September Games.
These Games are a great way for teams to promote Calgary Corp Challenge values: Employee Engagement, Health & Wellness, Supporting the Community, and Keeping it Local.
🎉 💪 Let's go team!

🌟 Proud to see how initiatives like PORCH Chattanooga are growing and making a difference in our communities! 🌟
PORCH Chattanooga is part of the larger PORCH Communities movement, dedicated to reducing food insecurity through neighbors helping neighbors. Our model is simple: once a month neighbors leave the most needed non-perishable items on their front porches, and our volunteers pick up and deliver them to a local pantry. This incredible program is an example of how we can all play a role in supporting our neighbors and creating a more sustainable future.
PORCH Chattanooga’s success shows the power of community involvement. By donating food, volunteering, or simply spreading the word, we can all contribute to making our towns better places to live.
If you're inspired by PORCH Chattanooga, consider starting or joining a similar initiative in your own community. (https://lnkd.in/ehtgZTQS) Together, we can create a network of support and ensure that no one goes hungry.

Donate To Food Banks & Build A Better Team
We work alongside The Trussell Trust, the largest Food Bank Charity in the UK, to create impactful CSR activities like Putt A Hole In Hunger, combining team building with meaningful contributions to combat food insecurity.
How it works:
- Design and construct mini golf courses using non-perishable food items
- Teams then compete in a friendly golf tournament on the courses they've built, adding an element of fun and excitement to the charitable activity
- The food used in the construction is donated to local food banks, making a meaningful impact on fighting hunger in the community.
Putt A Hole In Hunger offers a multitude of benefits, making it an impactful and rewarding experience for participants:
1. Community Engagement: By engaging in this activity, teams come together to support a meaningful cause, fostering a sense of community and unity.
2. Team Building: Working collaboratively to design, construct, and play on mini golf courses strengthens team bonds, communication, and problem-solving skills.
3. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): Partnering with The Trussell Trust demonstrates a commitment to social responsibility, showcasing your organisation's dedication to making a positive impact on society.
4. Awareness and Advocacy: Through the event, participants gain a deeper understanding of food insecurity issues in their communities, promoting awareness and advocacy for hunger relief efforts.
5. Fun and Engagement: Putt A Hole In Hunger combines the enjoyment of golf with the satisfaction of giving back, creating a fun and memorable experience for all involved.
6. Skill Development: Participants have the opportunity to showcase their creativity in designing mini golf courses while honing their putting skills during the competition.
7. Philanthropy: By donating non-perishable food items to local food banks, participants directly contribute to alleviating hunger and supporting vulnerable individuals and families in need.
8. Customisable Experience: The activity can be tailored to fit various agendas and preferences, offering flexibility in duration, format, and level of involvement.

The recent findings from OzHarvest's Community Needs Survey echo what we've been witnessing firsthand here at Wayside Chapel. Like many other charities, we've experienced a massive surge in demand over the last six months.
The survey found across charities, 30% of individuals were seeking help for the first time, including those from new demographics such as two-income households. Shockingly, 67% of charities cannot meet current demand—a 20% increase over the past year. This is a stark reminder that many in our community, from working families to pensioners, are struggling more than ever, with an estimated 30,000 people going without food each month.
At Wayside, we love when the bright yellow trucks and vans from OzHarvest arrive at our doors, bringing the vital fresh food supplies that allow us to offer our visitors the dignity of choice in our bustling Community Cafes. We couldn’t do without their support and partnership.
As the cost of living crisis continues to bite, it's crucial we don’t let our most vulnerable slip through the cracks. Get in touch to discuss how we can tackle food insecurity - together.

CALLING all community non-profit and service organizations who want to be a part of the food insecurity solution by bringing a fun, interactive, community-building food drive event to your community.
While we’re all still enjoying the dog days of summer, it’s the perfect time to think about ‘Fall Fundraising’.
With higher food prices and increasing shortages affecting us all, Sharecrows.org offers a creative, grassroots solution to restock community food banks by turning scarecrows into Sharecrows.
What’s a Sharecrow? A Sharecrow is a scarecrow display with a bin for collecting non-perishable food items to help restock local food banks. As communities across North America face varying degrees of food bank shortages, this is the perfect event to replenish food bank supplies.
Sharecrows.org has introduced a straightforward Fall Food Drive event designed for non-profit/service organizations to host in their communities. They’ve done all the heavy event planning lifting and made it super easy for your organization to roll out. Sharecrows.org presents a triple-win opportunity for your organization to become a "Hunger Hero" and contribute to alleviating food insecurities.
A win for food banks facing critical shortages.
A win for the community to engage in a fun and interactive scarecrow food drive tour, fostering creativity, community building, and supporting a good cause.
A win for your organization, as the funds raised can benefit local food banks and other community programs.
Residents and storefront owners who register for participation commit to crafting a scarecrow, displaying it from October 20 to 31, placing a bin for non-perishable food items, and having their address on a Sharecrows Tour Map for residents to take tours, with a supply of ‘treats’ for the scarecrows along the way.
As Halloween and Thanksgiving draw near, it's an ideal time for this interactive and innovative Food Drive event. Visit www.Sharecrows.org to learn more about the event and how to become part of the Sharecrows.org community. Be a Hunger Hero in your community; be a part of the solution.

#HolidaysMatter is raising national awareness of the fantastic work being done by organisations running the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme.
Locally, this is being led by Active Cornwall via the Time2Move Holiday Programme, which puts on activities throughout the county for children aged 5-16 during the Easter, Summer and Christmas holidays.
Its main aim is to tackle the triple inequalities of 1) social isolation – not being able to spend time with friends and peers, 2) low levels of physical activity and 3) poor diet - due to not having access to the funded meals available during school terms.
The HAF Alliance is a collaboration of national and local charities and not-for-profit organisations with direct, on-the-ground experience of what works in providing healthy, active and fulfilling holiday activities at scale, within local authority areas.
It wants to bring attention to the efforts being made now, so that vital funding doesn’t stop, and support can be secured from policy makers and partners. This has led to the creation of the #HolidaysMatter campaign, to offer a clear understanding of the impact for families and children.
The impact the Time2Move Holiday Programme has made in Cornwall since launching three years ago is significant. In 2023, more than 11,000 engaged with the programme, more than 57,000 meals were served and almost £1.5 million was spent on the provision.
As the Employee Campaign Chair for our United Way Winnipeg (UWW) campaign, I'm both humbled and inspired to be part of this important initiative. Yesterday, we kicked things off by welcoming the UWW team into our office for an incredible kickoff event—an eye-opening and thought-provoking session that highlighted the amazing work they are doing to address Winnipeg’s most critical issues.
Hearing from the UWW representatives gave us insights into the challenges facing our community and the impactful ways that United Way supports the city we call home. Their message was a powerful reminder of how we can all come together to make a difference.
✨ Key Facts About United Way Winnipeg ✨
- Every 13 seconds, someone in Winnipeg connects with a UWW-supported program or agency.
- UWW supports 125+ agencies, programs, and initiatives across Winnipeg (many reach communities province-wide!).
- 100% of donations go back into the community, thanks to a provincial grant covering administration costs.
- Alongside government, UWW is the only organization providing stable, multi-year funding to social service agencies—allowing them to focus on long-term solutions instead of fundraising.
Over the next week (October 28 - November 1), we’ll dive even deeper into these topics through various speakers and events, learning more about the pressing issues our community faces and how we can help. 💪
Let’s join hands, raise awareness, and make a lasting impact. Together, we can support our community and make a difference!
