The #1 Reason Technicians Ignore Your Messages. 🌟 Ever wonder why techs ghost you after the first call/email/text and stop responding? It’s because you didn’t make a connection with them. There are two critical steps that you need to accomplish during your first communication with a technician candidate… Step 1 - Find out if they have the basic skill sets you need in your shop (of course this won’t be perfect on a quick call but you can get an idea). Step 2 – Grab their attention and set the stage for the next conversation (phone interview, in-person interview, shop visit, etc Do you hear crickets when trying to follow-up with techs? It’s because you didn’t do step 2. Ask these two questions on every initial call from now on… 1. What’s going on that has you checking out new opportunities at the moment? 2. If we were sitting down one year from now and you were to look back over the previous 12 months and all your personal and professional goals had been accomplished, what would that look like? With two simple questions, you now know what problems and frustrations the tech is having with their current shop and what they want to accomplish personally and professionally over the coming year. This is all of the information you need to craft a compelling employment offer, and keep their attention when communicating in future conversations. Show them that you listened. Show them you care. So, write these two questions down on a sticky note and post them above your phone so that you have them handy whenever you hop on a call with a prospective team member! #Jobs #Staffing #Employment #StaffingAgency #Repair #Auto #Hiring #Automotive #Mechanic #Technician #TechnicianFind #AutoRepair #autorepairshop

🦄 Recruiting Leader | Partners in innovation & growth for businesses | We Make The Hiring Process The Best Part of Your Day
Career gaps and short stints in jobs are common. Sticking around when your work life is hell or the job is not suited to you is the problem. The best thing you can do is leave and do something else. Don't stay because some recruiter told you it's not 'Okay to have the short stint or gap'. The better fitting company for you will value that you left because the fit was not right and not you. Most good firms in my opinion, want to hire you, to do you. https://lnkd.in/gVx7GneZ

📣 Vehicle Technicians - Get Your CV Noticed! Want your CV to stand out? Here’s my advice on how to make it work for you: 1. Show Off Your Skills Don’t just say “carried out repairs” - explain what you specialise in. Whether it’s diagnostics, electrics, or air con, highlight the tools you used and the problems you solved. Example: “Expert in diagnosing and programming vehicle modules using advanced diagnostic tools on a wide range of makes and models.” This tells recruiters exactly what you bring to the workshop. 2. Highlight Your Brand Expertise Worked at a dealership? Mention any brand-specific training or tools you used. It shows you’re not just any mechanic - you’re a specialist with real brand knowledge. 3. Use Specialist Agencies Skip the mass CV blast. Stick to 1 or 2 specialist automotive agencies that know the industry inside out. They’ll avoid sending your CV to the same employer multiple times and will get you in front of the right people. Key Takeaway A well-structured, detailed CV, supported by industry-specific recruitment agencies, will help you land the right role faster. Keep it focused, concise, and relevant!

It’s no secret that workshop owners struggle to find technicians who they trust to do the big, complicated jobs - as efficiently as they can…🚙🛠️ This often means that the business owner is constantly on the shop floor working on vehicles all day long, instead of doing the things that need to be done behind the scenes, to grow the business.
