After a 12-month study, the results of the GAF Cool Community Project are in! This initiative, done in partnership with Climate Resolve, took a community-wide approach to mitigating heat through cool pavement coatings. The peer-reviewed study by Altostratus Inc. showed a reduction in surface temperatures following the application of GAF solar reflective pavement coatings, which was directly correlated to a reduction in air temperature and felt temperature in the community. The results reinforce the efficacy of cool pavement technology as one strategy to help cities tackle extreme heat. Learn more about this study and the rest of the results: http://spr.ly/6043wUgmZ

Climate Change Realist - Communicating the scale of the problem, the latest scientific research, breakthrough climate solutions, the sources of climate denial and political support for climate destroying fossil fuels.
The state of Texas has more climate and weather extremes than any other state: and the more climate changes, the more extreme they get. Where I live, in Dallas, it was 94F or 34C on Monday and many other Texas cities broke their daily high temperature records as well. By the end of the week, the state was facing down its biggest wildfire ever. The Smokehouse Creek fire has already scorched over a million acres and is still barely under control, with only 15% contained. The town of Canadian, TX, has been hit the hardest, with 40 homes destroyed and two deaths. - Katharine Hayhoe Where I live in Alberta, Canada, our conservative premier believes renewable energy is going to cost lives - she's said it many times. The premier and her allies don't see climate change as a threat. They want to burn more oil and gas and just last week put up legislative roadblocks to slow down the renewable energy industry that was booming in Alberta. Is there something very strange about this worldview? #politics #conservative #antirenewables #iheart #oilandgas #energy #oilpatch www.telldanielle.ca

2023 brought a greater mix of projects to Wisconsin’s commercial property assessed clean energy (C-PACE) program. We attribute that to a larger mix of lenders and the assistance of PACE Wisconsin stakeholder groups: counties, economic development groups, chambers, developer associations, and local utilities were essential partners in helping to spread the word about the impact of PACE as an economic development tool that creates more energy efficient buildings in Wisconsin. https://lnkd.in/dw8tHYiV

Today marks the 10 year anniversary of my tenure with the Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC). It is fitting that I have the opportunity to share with you a snapshot of our work in the newly released 2023 annual report of the DRBC. This year’s annual report once again highlights the mission and results of the DRBC to manage, protect and improve the water resources of the Delaware River Basin for the benefit of over 14 million people in four states. The report will take you on a journey from the headwaters to the ocean and highlights the diversity of the basin along the main stem Delaware River; the critical work being performed throughout the basin; and some of the continuing water resources management challenges. https://lnkd.in/dE_ZEcU

Not an AI. INLer & Atlantic Council Global Energy Center Non Resident Senior Fellow | Speaker, Author, Advisor
Appreciate Richard G Kidd IV chiming in this morning recommending shifting our focus more to the costs of inaction vs. the costs of action. To wit re #Beryl and people once again suffering high heat with no AC in Houston right now: "In CenterPoint’s last three annual reports to federal regulators, including the most recent one in February, the utility said it had risks related to aging facilities. 'Aging infrastructure may complicate our utility operations’ ability to address climate change concerns and efforts to enhance resiliency and reliability,' the company told the Securities and Exchange Commission." You need to look yourself square in the eye and ask "am I ready, am I prepared, not only for what's coming, but for what's already here? Are my utilities in motion on this? My public utility commissioners? Are my other state and local gov't officials and private sector leaders leaning in or leaning back on resilience? Rhetorical of course. The question is already answered, and it’s a resounding NO almost everywhere and as the impacts keep landing harder and faster, the hue and cry will grown deafening. So for the big finish: What are you going to do? I repeat, what are you going to do, and when?
