I received 300 rejections I was not in a great state of mind receiving back to back rejections last year from March to August. While 2023 started out great, the internship search period was filled with moments of self-doubt & the scary path that lied ahead. There were days where I would keep applying to a bulk of companies, thinking that would help me. It only led to me being more overwhelmed & confused. I kept getting disappointed and felt I was not suitable for these roles. It took me some time to reflect back and collect my thoughts to understand that an internship/job rejection is not a reflection of your abilities. For the two companies for which I cleared the final round, I wasn't selected because the 1st one closed the position, the 2nd one chose to fill the role internally. What I understood later was, there are a whole array of reasons why I must have not been selected, - there were a large pool of applicants, I am not only competing with entry-level, but with people across various levels - having limited professional network, making it demanding to approach job openings, receive referrals - managers who prefer hiring somebody who could bring value efficiently from the start rather than training junior employees to save time This difficult period has taught me to stay ahead of time by investing in myself. Whether it's acquiring new skills, enhancing my awareness, or in terms of building a network. "You are not defined by the job rejections you face but by how you rise from them" To all those who are going through this hard phase, keep pushing yourself, have trust in yourself, and never forget that your big break can be just around the corner! 💪✨
