On #EarthDay, let's showcase our dedication to reducing carbon emissions in our industry and helping clients lower their environmental footprint 🌍 In our journey toward #sustainability and #innovation, we've made significant strides in reducing the carbon footprint of our Rilsan® polyamide 11 bio-based products. ▸ To achieve this milestone, we are using renewable or low carbon energy sources and making several energy efficiency improvements in our production sites. ▸ This represents a strong step forward in our drive to ever-lower carbon footprint and lower climate change impact through a combination of sustainable raw materials, energy sources, and manufacturing processes. Our 2030 GHG emissions reduction targets are aligned with a 1.5°C trajectory of the #ParisAgreement, paving the way for the Net-Zero in 2050.

As the world drives its clean energy transitions in efforts to address climate concerns, the oil and gas industry is encouraged to take a proactive approach to green initiatives that reduce environmental footprint.  At ChemOne, we are committed to developing our #GreenEnergy business towards a low carbon economy. CLIMACT Executive Talk: Meet Guy Janssens 🌍 We had the pleasure of meeting Guy Janssens, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, during our CLIMACT Executive Talk on April 25th. Guy Janssens provided valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities of the energy transition. As a major port with significant energy needs for electricity, fuel, heat, and feedstock for the chemical industry, the Port of Antwerp-Bruges is pivotal in driving decarbonization and green energy innovation.  Climact calculated the full scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas emissions inventory according to the GHG Protocol for Port of Antwerp-Bruges, identified key actions to reduce their emissions together with their teams and defined a climate vision and targets aligned with science. If the goal is to be truly sustainable, all three scopes of greenhouse gas emissions need to reach net zero in the long run. If you're not familiar with the model – it’s actually quite simple: Scope 1 covers the direct release of climate-damaging gases within your own company. Scope 2 represents the indirect release of climate-damaging gases by energy suppliers. And Scope 3 covers the indirect release of climate-damaging gases in the upstream and downstream supply chain. In other words, absolutely everything. That’s why, while we're proud of our goal of achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions in business operations at all our sites and facilities by 2030, that is only an interim goal for us. By 2050 at the latest, we want to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions in scopes 1 to 3 in our value chain in line with the Science Based Targets initiative. That’s where we want to get to. 🌍 What is the difference between carbon removal and avoidance projects in the Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM)? 🔬 Carbon removal is the elimination of existing carbon emissions, by absorption, after they have entered the atmosphere. Carbon removal projects can take place in two ways, either with the use of technology or done naturally. Examples include: enhanced rock weathering, biochar, agricultural land management, and blue carbon projects. 🚫 Carbon avoidance is the prevention of future carbon emissions being released into the atmosphere. Some examples include: renewable energy, household and community devices, such as cookstoves or biogas, and waste management.
