Did you miss the panels and roundtables at the #Reg3Conf? Don't fret, we've outlined the #Reg3Overview. Here's what we talked about during the Opening Panel ⤵ 1️⃣ We kicked off discussing local regulations and anticipations for future regulatory frameworks, and speakers shared insights about #MiCA and #DLT pilot regimes. 2️⃣ Expected perk of the #DLT Pilot Regime? All trading, settlement and custody services can coexist under one roof and contribute to the growth of secondary markets for crypto assets that would otherwise fall under financial regulations. 3️⃣ The trial period for this will be 3 years, with the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) reporting the pilot’s success to the EU Commission. Once the trial is over, the regulators will consider whether there’s enough demand on the market for such a regime, whether regulatory frameworks need to be adapted and how. 4️⃣ Our speakers then discussed the compliance logistics of peer-to-peer transactions and discussed how risks will have to be assessed even when the activity is not a regulated one. They further emphasised that the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) recommendations do not present a maxime, but rather the bare minimum. Clearly, we're at a crossroads of potential and progress: with regulatory development and technological advancement, crypto financial instruments could reshape markets as we know them.
