How much is freedom worth to you? Would you give it all? What about something as simple as your time? This year, let’s stop just reading and talking about the problems our great nation faces. It’s time to take action. Our freedom has been fought for and protected by countless brave souls. Now, it’s our turn to step up and use our voices to make a difference. Let’s honor the sacrifices made by taking a stand, participating in our democracy, and ensuring our voices are heard. Freedom isn’t just a gift; it’s a responsibility. This year, let’s commit to making our voices count. #ValueFreedom #TakeAction #VoiceOfThePeople #DemocracyInAction #HonorTheSacrifice #DIA #DIAEveryday #DIAMindset #greatness #veterans

Just recently I saw this wonderful initiative by #MyVoiceMyChoice detailing what could be a wonderful step in Women's rights: safe and accessible abortion in the EU. They are going about this through a European Citizens' Initiative, meaning they need all the signatures they can get! If you are passionate (as you should) about women's basic human rights and access to healthcare, please sign it at the link below. https://lnkd.in/dFxDFWfN

Sir David Martin Foundation is proud to stand in solidarity with First Nations communities in the ongoing campaign for their sovereignty and self-determination. We believe there needs to be crucial and urgent action for the traditional custodians of this land to receive the acknowledgment, respect and equality that they deserve. In step with what we believe, we have signed the Australian Council of Social Service (ACOSS)’s Statement of Solidarity with First Nations Communities. The statement brings acknowledgement to the ongoing injustice and institutionalised racism that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples face, calling for action to end this disparity. “As a community sector, we commit to: · Solidarity and action with First Nations communities in their ongoing campaign for sovereignty and self-determination, including Voice, Treaty, and Truth-telling. · Ensuring our own decision-making processes respect First Nations voices, leadership and right to self-determination. · Developing partnership principles that ensure we are not competing with Aboriginal community-controlled organisations who are best placed to develop policy solutions and deliver services for their communities.” It is a crucial time to unite in solidarity with First Nations peoples. We cannot change what has happened in the past; but now we can build a future that brings justice and equality, the way it should have been a long time ago. "Democracy Dynamics: Rights, Voting, and Military Engagement" Greetings, LinkedIn colleagues! In our last few messages, we talked about hemp, sugarcane, delectable insects, and more, exploring their benefits when used correctly. Now, let's shift gears and dive into some thought-provoking topics surrounding rights, voting, military service, and more. As we gear up for elections, it's essential to address important questions, such as whether the military, armed forces, or navy vote. You might wonder, do those serving in the military have the opportunity to exercise their right to vote? Considering that many are deployed for extended periods, it's a valid concern. And let's not forget about individuals who may have faced legal consequences related to marijuana before its legalization. Are their charges being expunged now that it's legal? These are crucial issues to consider. Imagine if approximately 20% of our nation's population, including both men and women, can't participate in the democratic process due to various circumstances, including military service or past legal troubles. It's a staggering thought, especially considering that many of these individuals are young adults at the age of 18, just beginning to navigate the complexities of adulthood. Sadly, some service members may endure harrowing experiences during their deployment, including exploitation, unhealthy behaviors, or even sexual assault. These challenges persist even after they return home, where they may struggle to reintegrate into society or access the support they need. These issues underscore the need for support and reform within our military system And let's not overlook international affairs, such as our recent expulsion from Niger. What led to this decision, and how does it impact our diplomatic relations? In light of these complex issues, it's crucial to reflect on the words of Maya Angelou: "We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value, no matter their color." "United we stand, divided we fall."#VotingRights #MilitaryVote #SocialJustice 🗳️⚫#MilitaryEngagement #EqualityInAction #GlobalDynamics 🗳️⚫

Online Radicalization and Misinformation: - The widespread Islamophobic sentiments and violent reactions were catapulted by false information regarding a stabbing incident in Southport. 2. Far-Right Extremism: - Far-right groups, including supporters of a well known activist and an Islamophobic organisation in England, are alleged to have been instrumental in organizing and escalating the unrest. 3. Racism and Social Inequality: - Unresolved issues pertaining to race and immigration have led to violent expressions of these tensions during the riots. 4. Media and Political Influence: - Allegedly, some media sources have disseminated and/ or exaggerated, Inflammatory and divisive messages from politicians and influential figures, consequently exacerbating the situation. 5. Economic Hardships: - Persistent harsh economic realities such as austerity, poverty and unemployment have created widespread discontent. 6. Almost 80 million #women in #EU live in countries where you have to pay for #abortion care. Out of 27 Member States abortion is not universally free in 13 of them. Lack of access to abortion in many parts of Europe not only puts women at risk of physical harm, but also causes undue financial and psychological stress on women and families, often in marginalized communities who are least able to bear the costs. This is unacceptable. The right to choose is a fundamental #humanright. And abortion care is basic #healthcare. We can change this, we can protect women from unneeded suffering. Your #signature can be one of the million voices that will make abortion free at the European level. #petition #humanrights #freedomofchoice https://lnkd.in/dWX_u7-G
