When a provider leaves a patient not understood or misunderstood, they suffer. If healthcare leaders knew the extent patients are suffering in silence throughout their healthcare organization they would empower their frontline nurses with VidaTalk and other AAC solutions and mandate the use of AAC solutions with every encounter as the standard of care. What is the standard of care at your healthcare organization? #UnsilenceHealthcare #patientexperience #patientsafety #HealthcareHeroes #DigitalHealth #HealthIT #mHealth #TeleHealth #DigitalTransformation ##NTI2024 #AACN #patientadvocacy

Director , Board Member Aged Care NFP Chairman & Founder Croft Group of Companies , 40 years experience in Construction , Aged Care Development and Operations
Do we really need a new Aged Care Act ?? The current Aged Care Act was created in 1997 after about 2 years of industry input in particular when I was Federal President of ANHECA , those discussions and submissions took 2 years before a new act could be established. Previously the National Health Act governed the RAC sector dating back to 1958 , and the Aged and Disabled Persons Care Act governed the Hostels, the governance of both acts were incorporated into The Aged Care Act 1997. I do not believe the creation of a new Aged Care Act will immediately solve the shortcomings of the sector in terms of finance, quality of care or governance. Most of the issues at hand are the creation of penny pinching by federal governments of all political parties and failing to provide for the serious shortfall of workforce needs of the sector . In fact recent legislated RN hours exacerbated these shortfalls by creating compliance issues for providers that cannot be met from the available workforce. The well known forecast shortage of Healthcare workers have not been met with positive action to immediately address these shortages , and the Government regulator AHPRA has not been charged with improving its speed or the need to recruit not only RNs but GPs and other health care professionals in a timely manner to meet the immediate needs.

In April 2024, CMS announced providers to direct 80% of reimbursements for Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) towards caregivers wages, leaving providers with only 20% to spend on administrative expenses. Following are the impacts industry leaders foresee becuse of the 80-20 provision: - Agency closures or providers' exit from Medicaid programs - Reduced spending on administrative expenses could backfire as it is vital for meeting mandates like Electronic Visit Verification, quality reporting, nurse supervision, etc. - Increased overall cost of care However, according to the CMS: - Higher wages through provision can mitigate HCBS recruiting and retention challenges - Increase direct skilled care workforce, lower turnover, and improve access to quality care Source: Home health care news and Home health line #RedRoad #Homehealthcare

The NHS is commendable for its exceptional efforts driven by highly skilled and committed professionals. However, it is indisputable that the health service is facing significant challenges, a situation that has persisted for quite some time. Recently, the NHS backlog soared to a new record, with the number of non-emergency care waits in England rising from 7.75 million in August to 7.77 million in September. It is hardly surprising that an increasing number of individuals are opting for private healthcare. https://lnkd.in/eHhkzEVU #daffernswealth #healthcare #financialplanning #nhs

We're now starting to see the scramble for HEALTHCARE WORKERS WORLDWIDE BEGIN! We face a shortage of millions of healthcare works in the coming years. Florida Senate passes sweeping health care legislation. Here’s what it would do Florida senators on Thursday passed a sweeping package of changes meant to ease Florida’s health care worker shortage and provide people with more access to care. The overall package will cost hundreds of millions of state and federal dollars, and was unanimously approved by the Senate. The Florida House will still have to pass its package, but Speaker Paul Renner has expressed support for the priority legislation of Senate President Kathleen Passidomo. The sweeping package does not consider expanding Medicaid. In her opening speech to the Legislature earlier this month, Passidomo made clear that Medicaid expansion was not on the table. FILLING MEDICAL RESIDENCIES AND BRINGING IN FOREIGN DOCTORS Another measure puts money toward filling physician residency slots and would fund certain health clinics if they take on trainees. The bill would put $50 million toward filling 500 residency slots, including 200 positions that have not been filled in more than three years. The article from Home Health Care News addresses the trend of "acuity creep" in home health care, where patients increasingly require complex care at home. This situation demands more skilled nursing and comprehensive staff training. To adapt, home care agencies should invest in workforce development, enhance training for handling complex cases, and consider revising reimbursement models to reflect the heightened care needs. Strategies could also include collaborating with healthcare providers to ensure a continuum of care and using technology to streamline operations and patient monitoring. #homecare #homehealthcare #training #caregiver https://hubs.li/Q02gLs_d0

Earworx wants Accessibility and Equity in Healthcare for all Australians. The existing disparity between the Australian regulatory bodies and the autonomy granted to Registered Nurses needs to be addressed. RNs advocate for patients' rights and strive to bridge the gap between communities and healthcare systems. To fully harness the potential of RNs delivering accessible health care, there must be a concerted effort to align funding mechanisms (Medicare Benefits Schedule and Private Health) with the regulatory framework. Kate Dawson, Deputy Clinical Director of Earworx, is fostering positive change in the Australian healthcare system. Read her solution-driven article in the Winter Edition of The Hive. Fixing the NHS! It is disheartening to witness inefficiencies in patient care firsthand. Recently, an 88-year-old lady and her carer faced a distressing wait of over 3 hours for pre-booked transport after a biopsy, only to be told that staff were on a break. Who is at fault for this breakdown in the system? 1. Overstretched transport staff in the community? 2. Overbooked clinics in the hospital? 3. Inappropriate referrals causing clinic congestion from GPs? 4. Inefficient scheduling staff failing to anticipate patient needs? 5. Ineffective referral letters lacking critical patient details? These challenges highlight the need for a comprehensive overhaul to ensure smoother patient experiences and more effective healthcare delivery. Let's work together to address these issues and improve the quality of care for all patients. #NHS #Healthcare #PatientCare
