Earlier this week, we delved into the complexities of honesty and transparency following an affair. Questions and answers are essential, but some may be more helpful than others, and some may be damaging. Let's go deeper into this topic. According to Esther Perel, the most effective questions are "investigative questions." These questions steer away from a simplistic truth-versus-lie framework and require self-restraint and introspection. The answers unearthed through this approach offer a deeper understanding of the affair's significance for your partner. They allow for a nuanced exploration of themes such as love, sex, loss, and commitment, which traditional detective-style questioning may overlook. Want to hear more about this topic? ‘Unspoken expectations are premeditated resentment’ - Neil Strauss Agreeable People or Nice Guys - are not always that agreeable or nice when you lift up the hood! They ‘hold’ Covert contracts The unspoken, unconscious agreements that the Nice guy has with everyone that is not him... the world, god, woman If I do “this”, then “that” will happen. They are basically all manipulative with strings attached Often the nice guy isn’t even consciously aware of them and nobody else is either 3 specific contracts: 1 - If I’m a good guy then I will be liked and loved (and the women I’m trying to impress will want to have sex with me) 2 - If I meet everybody else’s needs without them having to ask, then they will meet my needs without me having to ask 3 - If I do everything right then I will have a smooth, problem free world Being too Agreeable or a “Nice Guy” is not serving you well. Join me in 10 days when I launch a Podcast with the Author of No More Mr Nice Guy, Dr Robert Glover. #niceguy #agreeable #personalgrowth #personaltraits

With any number of "third rail" topics we may encounter with colleagues, clients, family, and others, this is an interesting simple approach to increasing curiosity and decreasing disparity. How does this journalist stay open during difficult conversations? Anna Sale, creator and host of the podcast ‘Death, Sex & Money,’ says we should use small phrases that introduce new perspectives or slow the pace of a tough conversation. In her interview with someone who had opposing viewpoints, he would listen to her position, pause, and calmly say, “You know, I see it differently.” Every time he said that, it signaled her to slow down and respond thoughtfully, instead of react defensively to his experience. Have you tried any phrases to better handle tough conversations, personally or professionally?
