Project Update: 'Preparing for disasters through simulation!' On 28th May, NAXA and NNSWA Kanchapur teamed up to conduct a scenario-based simulation drill related to the disaster at Janajyoti Secondary School in Dodhara Chandani-8, Kanchanpur. The drill brought disaster scenarios to life, guiding participants on obtaining weather updates, understanding early warning systems, and implementing the Household Disaster Risk Management Plan. The focus was on prioritizing vulnerable groups like people with disabilities, chronic illnesses, pregnant women, and senior citizens in the flood response and search & rescue operations. The activity even delved into post-disaster rehabilitation and recovery efforts. This engaging activity was part of the ACT FIRST project, implemented by NAXA in partnership with Institute of Himalayan Risk Reduction, DCA Nepal, Viamo Nepal, and NNSWA Kanchapur. The ACT FIRST project is funded by the GSMA Innovation Fund for Anticipatory Humanitarian Action and supported by UK International Development and the GSMA. A big shout-out to all the dedicated participants, partners, and community members who made this simulation a success! Together, we're strengthening disaster preparedness, one scenario at a time.
