Designed as an immersive , experiential and peer learning programme , its different from other programs in that it offers Board ( legal and advisory) connections to nonprofits, the facilitators and resource people are available to the cohort members and the nonprofits for life :-) to ensure that they find the opportunities they are seeking , and it selects the cohort from a set of really strong professional women . Also , in all humility, its organised by a group of people that is constantly striving to make each offering better, is aware of what can be different and better and takes feedback from its participants really seriously :-) . This program over 3 modules will include 1. Interactions with the changemakers and the communities they serve, in an immersive experience - we think a good Board member needs to understand all stakeholders first hand- so applicants will need to engage deeply with non profits 2. How to be an effective Board member through simulations and addressing common dilemmas in a group setting . Board members often have to deal with difficult and challenging circumstances. How does one do that well and play the role with accountability ? 3. Reflecting on one's own response to the learnings and experiences and crafting their personal journeys . 🗣️💬 Let's build shared understanding through dialogues! 💭🤝 During February, ENABL India celebrated International Women and Girls in Science Day. All the incredible women in our company came together and shared their experiences and perspectives on working within science and technology. They shared what inspired them to choose this path and what motivates them in their roles. (💡why should all wish to work within sciences and engineering). The advantages and disadvantages of having all-women teams versus mixed-gender teams were debated during the event. It brought up some thought-provoking points, like team dynamics, the challenges women face in technology, and the importance of representation. Other topics such as dignity, multitasking skills, financial empowerment, feeling secure in a mixed-gender workplace, and difficulties adapting after coming from a single-gender educational background were also brought up. The dialogue made it clear that each of us has her unique reasons for choosing a career in science. It also highlighted the immense benefits of having diverse teams. BUT if we genuinely want diverse teams, we need diverse candidate fields. New initiatives are required from within our companies, externally, from schools, government, networks, and others to inspire more girls and women to choose a career in science. Deepa Bhandari from Nepal currently working as YED volunteer at Accountability Lab Nepal shared her thoughts on women's inclusion in digital space. Her thoughts: 📣 From my childhood I always used to get that girls need to study about art,dance,cooking and boys need to learn about football,computer and other technical things. If every girls were given freedom of choice from the school level than there could be better opportunity to include them in digital space.Other than that by providing digital literacy, digital codding and other fundamental knowledge to womens can help in inclusion. Furthermore, investing in female-led startups is essential for leveling the playing field and promoting women's entrepreneurship in the digital space. Lastly, community engagement plays a significant role. By collaborating with women-focused organizations and supporting initiatives that empower women in tech, we can collectively drive meaningful change and create a more inclusive digital ecosystem. India's vision for a "Viksit Bharat" by 2047 is bold, but what truly stands out is the emphasis on 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻-𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, as outlined by Ruchira Kamboj at the United Nations. The focus here isn’t just on women’s empowerment but on positioning women at the helm of driving progress. 🚺🏅 But what does that really mean? 🗣️ It’s not about providing opportunities for women to thrive in a development framework set by others—it’s about women creating the framework themselves. Women-led development challenges the status quo, shifting the narrative from “what can we do for women” to “𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗼 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱.” 📌 It demands an ecosystem that empowers women to take leadership roles, innovate, and contribute to societal progress. This means ensuring access to education, financial independence, and healthcare, while also dismantling gender-based barriers in decision-making spaces. And India is trying to do exactly that. 🌱 India’s 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗿𝗼𝗼𝘁𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝘀, such as self-help groups and community collectives, are a testament to how women can pioneer solutions that are both inclusive and sustainable and thereby lead initiatives that reshape local economies, generate employment, and drive social progress. 📝 To prioritize 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻'𝘀 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, the MGNREGA, and the Jan Dhan Yojana to bring women into the formal financial system. This enables them to manage their own finances and, in many cases, become the primary earning members in their households. 🩺 The next need was enhancing 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻. For that, we have the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan, which aims to ensure safe motherhood, and the Asha program and the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana to support expectant mothers financially. 🎓 For 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative has been instrumental, along with the Pradhan Mantri Grameen Digital Saksharta Abhyan which has successfully managed to enroll more than 52 percent women. The shift towards women-led development speaks to a broader evolution in how we understand leadership.
