🏌♂️ The ReMatter team hits the links again! Drake H. and Kevin Maloney spent the morning chasing par with our friends at Recycled Materials Association (ReMA)'s William A. Bushman Memorial Golf Tournament. 👋 We're doing a whole lot more than golfing this week, though! If you're down in Austin for the Gulf Coast Region Summer Convention + Expo, make sure to pop by booth 704 to say hi to Drake, Kevin, Ashley Tamayo, Taber Bailey, and Sean O'Bannon! #ReMA #recycledmaterials #scraplife #golf #software

OK, our firm does a lot to help our clients manage their waste disposal costs, but ... this is a new concept to me! Combine running with collecting garbage. Leave it to the Italians to come up with a novel concept for what's become a big issue there - uncollected trash. Contestants must stay within the boundaries set by organizers and haul as much rubbish as possible across the finish line in the allotted time. With the notorious trash strikes in NYC, how have we in the US not come up with this. Spartan races are one thing, but Rubbish Races might be cool! Read more here from the Wall Street Journal. By the way, if your firm needs help with waste management, we have a team of experts, NONE of which will be participating in these races! 😎 https://lnkd.in/guBS6XNW #wastemanagement. #costmanagement. #costreduction

How many times have we heard this: the economic benefits will “substantially outweigh any environmental impact”? Not the case in Menie, Aberdeenshire, "a particularly beautiful and special patch of nature on the Scottish east coast" - also a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) akin to the Amazon Rainforest - that was turned into "an 18-hole, 500-hectare, money haemorrhaging scar on the former natural beauty hotspot." This is the devastating impact of Donald Trump's Scottish golf courses. You can read more on Huck Magazine. According to a recent study by London's Natural History Museum, published before the UN biodiversity conference in 2021, the UK was consistently in the bottom 10% of nations in terms of biodiversity intactness. We can't afford these kinds of decisions. As Professor Andy Purvis of the museum's life science department puts it: "Many people think of biodiversity as a luxury - as nice-to-have, charismatic, beautiful species. They are good for the soul but no more than that... But biodiversity is so much more... It is the engine that produces everything we consume." - quoted from The Guardian article: "Nearly half of Britain's biodiversity has gone since industrial revolution."
"The devastating impact of Donald Trump's Scottish golf courses" on Huck has gone viral on Apple News reaching more than 1.5M people. It documents the story behind Alice Bruce's soon-to-be published photobook called "I Burn But I Am Not Consumed", who grew up near the redevelopment of the natural heritage spot that lost its conservation status and local community to make way for 18 holes. "The idea that the area would be developed was unthinkable to many who had lived in the area their whole lives." Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eSwm3nvA

This is a Part 1 of this episode, where I sat down with Darren Vaux, the President of ICOMIA, who have commissioned The Pathways to Decarbonisation for the Recreational Marine Industry report, with leading global engineering consulting firm, Ricardo plc,. The report investigated propulsion technologies across nine common recreational watercrafts to compare the impact of lifetime GHG emissions, financial costs, usability, performance, range and infrastructure implications. This is a special episode as Darren shares how 'for the first time, we've united the global recreational marine industry around our most comprehensive, peer-reviewed research to explore opportunities that could reduce recreational boats’ carbon emissions, giving us the data we need to begin educating policy makers, our stakeholder community, and boaters on the varied decarbonisation solutions unique to our industry. This new research provides guidance on the focus for the innovations we can begin exploring today to create a better boating experience that reduces our environmental footprint. I know you are going to find this a very interesting, informative and influential executive summary of the report, so stay in touch as Part 2 is not far away.

Boat shows continue to be a strong marketing and sales tool for the recreational boating industry. One should consider the impact on a buyer of being able to meet someone in person or physically step onto a boat. It is a deal breaker in many instances. However, boat shows, when done right, can be a sizeable investment. You need a trained and passionate staff contingent on the show, ready to personally engage with clients all day. You need a well-designed stand with a clean layout to highlight your products and give them the exposure they deserve. You need a well-defined sales and marketing strategy to ensure that clients and prospective buyers know you will be there. Most importantly, you need to follow up after the event. I cannot tell you how many shows I have been to and left my details as a potential client, and the company never followed up. I have heard this complaint so many times from boat owners. Have you analysed the key shows to see which are best suited for your products? It is not necessarily the closest, most popular or most expensive show. It just needs to be the event where your prospective clients will be. Make sure you do your market research. And if you need help or guidance, please don't hesitate to contact GMBA. It is a service we regularly assist clients with. The IBI Annual Boat Show Calendar is available to download and share. It is a powerful tool to plan your year. Partnership Executive at Tagmarshal, responsible for Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
Want to know how to bring in an extra $700k a year in green fee revenue? 2017 US Open host Erin Hills is renowned and revered around the golfing world for its unique and testing course layout. Like many northern courses, it faces a familiar foe - the weather. Erin Hills is open for 7 months of the year, with the course unplayable during the harsh winter months, and has to maximize its earnings during that period. The course partnered with Tagmarshal to: > Reduce average round times and slow rounds > Enhance the playing experience > Unlock revenue by creating the opportunity for additional tee-off times Here’s what happened within a year: > 17-minute improvement versus the course’s historic goal time > Fewer slow rounds due to improved course flow > $700k increase in greens revenue Thanks to an optimized tee sheet and improved pace of play, Erin Hills created additional capacity. With rich data sets helping to unlock additional opportunities, the course also implemented advanced revenue strategies. All of this resulted in huge bottom-line gains AND an enhanced golfer experience. Message me directly, or leave a comment, and I’ll run you through the revenue strategies that will work best for your course.
